Radisson Montevideo Victoria Plaza Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel is spacious and quiet. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. The spa and pool were super useful during an afternoon rain. We were really well served at our arrival by reception staff (Mr Max) including tips for Montevideo and our stay was very pleasant. "

Own Montevideo
10/10 Excellent
"Located on a safe, pretty, leafy street with several restaurants proximate. Staff (and Uruguaians in general) spoke english well. The breakfast area turns into a lunch/dinner restaurant and with something ordered can act as a gathering spot as there is not such an area in the lobby. Hotel is within 2 blocks from the Rambla (pictured), a lovely 17 mile walkway along the coast. I got a third floor room with private terrace and terrace shared space with multiple air conditioner units (these are not the highest level terraces pictured on website) but sliding door in my room did open to 3rd floor pool area which had patio with seating. "

Smart Hotel Montevideo
10/10 Excellent
"The staff is so nice. The room was a nice size. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small, but not bad. My husband said he saw a hair on the sheets, but it was probably the maid's. Air conditioning unit made a strange whirring sound every few minutes, but not a huge deal. "

Costanero Hotel Montevideo - MGallery Collection
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful beach view room in this new hotel. Great bathroom with wonderful shower and bidet toilet!
Great food and pastries. Don't let the menu fool you, gourmet tapas, a must try are the camarónes with mushrooms. Amazi. Plus the Viereas,(scallops) awesome. "

Dazzler by Wyndham Montevideo
10/10 Excellent
"The breakfast was very poor , there is no. variation , always the same , no god ham , always the same cakes"

Opta Coliving
8/10 Good
"The spa and spa team are pleasant / productive including the massages and sauna. The gym is functional though could it use some care and repairs. The pool is great for relaxation or 25 meter laps.
The Opta staff are kind, helpful, and pleasant. The location is both convenient and wonderful (i.e., near La Rambla, bus depot, restaurants, bars, parks, and mall if you need it). Many guests play billiards pool and ping pong. The various spaces to read or work on a laptop are convenient. Laundry is on site, irons are in the laundry room.
I only encountered three issues that may be important for sensitive sleepers.
1) The in-room router or cable box contains a bright blue light that is unnoticeable during the day. When all the lights are off and curtains are closed at night, that blue light is very bright. You will need to cover it or unplug it if you don’t want ambient light.
2) Where the closed curtains meet, a slight gap remains at the top, a common issue. So, it is difficult to achieve total darkness. I never did achieve total darkness with the blue light and this curtain gap.
3) The mattress was uncomfortable. I rarely felt comfortable and didn’t sleep through the night once. It was both too hard on the edges and would sink in the middle. I weigh a semi-muscular 215 lbs or 97 kgs. "

Esplendor by Wyndham Montevideo Cervantes
6/10 Okay
"Nice hotel with friendly staff in a great location. The rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is of a good standard. Unfortunately I left an item of clothing behind and the hotel wasn't very helpful as they would not post it to me, even though I offered to pay the costs. I would have given a much better rating if it wasn't for this as it would show they were prepared to go the extra effort for guests.

"Excellent stay at Hotel Montevideo"

ALFA SUITES
4/10 Poor
"Honestly no idea how this property has scored anything above a 2.
Plus points. Handy to bus station. Friendly check in staff. Nice reception area.
Bad points. Room falling to bits. Bathroom horrible and dirty. Windows and floors dirty. Breakfast extra $10 (we didn't bother after seeing the state of the hotel). Advertised as having a guest laundry - it doesn't but has a paid (and expensive) laundry service/dry clean. The area around the bus station is grotty and lots of homeless and dirt.
Four hotels so far in South America This was the worst except the nice friendly female at reception was very pleasant and helpful.
Stay in the old town/port area or near the southern beaches This area is unpleasant to stay in and it's worth the cost of the uber to stay somewhere else."
