“Occasion - 50th wedding anniversary. Nice hotel (dark rooms to be expected in a Victorian property) with excellent staff let down by dining experiences. Breakfast disappointing - buffet breakfasts kept in metal tureens always difficult to keep warm and this was no exception, bacon, sausages, soda bread and wheaten bread all quite tough by the time we got to them. Simply not 5* standard. No coffee machines, so coffee had to be ordered from a waiter, making refills problematic. My wife's steak at...
“Welcome was good, friendly and informative. Room was pleasant, clean and well situated with à separate entrance to Restaurant.
Meals taken were good with excellent selection for breakfast.
We were aware of entertainment in the Bar, which was excellent both nights. Note: entertainment is not availble in their Bar every night but there is entertainment somewhere in Rostrevor each night.”
“Had a lovely room overlooking the sea. Rooms were warm and quirky and bed very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly which means a lot. And the food was amazing. Would definitely go back.”
“This was a little tougher than expected. However it was altogether nice. More like renting a resort cottage. Would be great for young couples or groups of friends. Lots of little extras having a full kitchen and laundry. Shower not really an option. Local area very quiet. This also meant few options for pubs or restaurants except the local grocer. Slept well with the windows open and enjoyed magnificent views of the mournes and water.”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay-a charming older style hotel with lots of character. The property was clean and very well maintained. Beautiful grounds and setting in the hills overlooking Newcastle-yet convenient to most everything. And the staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant served wonderful comfort food at a very good value. We will definitely return on a future visit.”
“Nice facility-friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant was very good. The spa was excellent. Centrally located and an abundance of self parking. The front desk was extremely helpful in finding us another room as the first one didn’t meet our requirements. It obviously is very popular/busy as a consequence it’s looking a little tired and worn. It could use some minor maintenance-eg paint, cleaning the grout in the showers, etc. We would definitely stay at the hotel again.”
“I was very impressed with the facilities and the staff at the hotel. The guest in the neighbouring room was being rather noisy and I knew that it would disturb my sleep, so I approached reception and they were kind enough to offer an alternative, quiet room in which I slept well... :-)
I was also very impressed with the breakfast. I chose the cooked option and it set me up for the day...
I would highly recommend this hotel and would choose to stay here again if I'm visiting Newry.”
“This property is immaculate, everything was absolutely perfect! The view is breathtaking and there’s plenty of outdoor space to enjoy it from, my son particularly liked the swings, slide and football area we were allowed to make use of! The bed was super comfy and the bathroom is huge, we didn’t use the kitchen much as we were only there for 1 night but it’s very well kitted out with everything you could possibly need! The hosts are brilliant, you won’t meet nicer people and nothing was too...
“It was amazing. Surrounded by hills and the Mourne mountains and a view of the ocean in the distance. Woke up to cows in the front pasture and sheep in the back pasture each morning. So peaceful there. Cottage has everything one would need for a very pleasant stay.”
“Unfortunately I cannot post photos of the property but where to begin. When we arrived we were greeted with full bins and rubbish on the floor which we were told to pick up. The outside furniture is in a horrible state that I wouldn’t even let the kids sit on with the rust. The oven was in a disgusting state and the fridge door was broken. The state of the cottage was like nothing I’ve seen before. Which is very surprising considering that when you book this property you are then told that the...
“We chose this property for our family trip to Ireland because of its three bedrooms, vast array of amenities and location, especially its proximity to the city of Newry and, last but not least, its view overlooking the town of Warrenpoint and Carlingford Lough.
By the time we got to 27 Pinewood Hill and settled in for our stay, we were blown away by the exceptional quality of our accommodations. All rooms in 27 pinewood hill including the three bedrooms, bathroom (walk-in shower), half bath and...
