Travel Guide
Huntington Beach State Park which includes general coastal views and a sandy beach
Take a boat ride through historic rice fields, walk along a salt marsh boulevard and go for dinner in the Seafood Capital of South Carolina.

Murrells Inlet is a lively beachfront area with scenic trails and excellent surfing conditions. The town is renowned across the state for its acclaimed seafood and picturesque golf courses. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and excellent food in this resort town and retirement community.

Among the highlights of the town is the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk, which runs along the coastline for 0.5 mile (1 kilometer). Dine at one of the many seafood restaurants that flank the coastal boulevard. Sit on a wooden pavilion between the palm trees and capture photos of the grassy mounds that rise from the salt marsh.

Walk southwest for 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) to reach the Murrells Inlet Historic District. It comprises 37 structures dating back to the 19th century. Consider the transition from rice plantation estates to the vacation resorts of today. Admire the quaint designs of the buildings, with their wooden façades and screened porches.

Sunbathe on the beach that stretches across 3 miles (5 kilometers) of pristine terrain. Cool down with a swim in the Atlantic Ocean during hot and sunny summers. At the northern end of the beach is the Pier at Garden City. Bring your family to this fun pier and appreciate the views of the water and Garden City Beach. Relax here and watch the dramatic sunset on the horizon.

On the southern side of the town is the vast Brookgreen Gardens, with its zoo, floral displays and sculptures. Take a boat ride on the creeks that meander through the historic rice fields. Embark on the Oaks Plantation History and Nature Tour and try the Northern Trek.

The town is 13 miles (21 kilometers) southwest along the Grand Strand coastline from Myrtle Bay. Drive here from Charleston in less than 2 hours. Visit neighboring areas, such as Pawleys Island, the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge and Garden City.

Enjoy a vacation in Murrells Inlet, a tranquil beach haven with pretty gardens and a celebrated seafood tradition.

We love this town. Away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. Dead Dogs Saloon is our favorite restaurant.
