The front desk staff, particularly Melvin and Niecey, and the breakfast manager Dominique were absolutely fantastic. The location was exceptional for accessing various transit, as well as restaurants and other attractions.
The room itself was obviously recently renovated as far as carpet and look, with the bed comfortable. Refrigerator, unlike many hotel refrigerators, was at an exceptionally cold safe temperature.
My reason for a "3" rating is that there's a disconnect specific to overall room comfort, details and possibly safety-related issues.
1, the HVAC system was unreliable, it worked but cooled at an exceptionally cool temperature when set to 72, to the extent I started to feel a little ill.
2, the room smelled like a damp basement, musty, almost mold, unsure if that's from the HVAC system filter not being cleaned or other issues. I was on the 10th floor so it's not exactly basement.
3, bathroom , despite remodel, had obvious issues that housekeeping or any other staff member could have identified. The plugged in night light didn't work so it was necessary to leave the bathroom light on all the time. The shower head obviously was broken as it sprayed in all different directions. And shower curtains were so short that they didn't prevent water from heading to the bathroom floor.
4, breakfast, not only were selections mediocre and the microwave unavailable to reheat, the area is so tiny. Compounded with foreign guests who get very territorial, it was very unpleasant.
