Security incident: During our stay, there was a break-in on the first floor — a door was smashed and items were stolen. What was more alarming was that someone also attempted to open the door to our room. This is a serious security lapse for a hotel. Fire alarm with no staff response: The next morning, the fire alarm went off. When we came down to reception to find out what was happening, there was no staff present at all. No one to explain the alarm, no one to update us on the robbery from the night before. Being left with zero information during what could have been a genuine emergency was frankly unacceptable. Basic guest safety both in terms of security and emergency response — felt completely absent during this stay. I’d think twice before booking here again.

Il a été difficile de bien dormir. La chambre ne disposait pas de climatisation et il nous était impossible d'ouvrir la fenêtre, puisqu'elle donnait directement sur le terminus ferroviaire. Nous n'avions qu'un petit ventilateur pour deux lits simples, ce qui n'était malheureusement pas suffisant. En revanche, le service au Hudson, le restaurant de l'hôtel, était impeccable. L'équipe était attentionnée et le repas a été une très belle expérience.

The room was good with a comfy bed, clean bathroom room , shower with hot water etc. Mini bar was useful and not stupidly expensive. Could do with some better glasses for drinks. Staff were all friendly and offered luggage service. Breakfast was nice if not spectacular. Decor around the building could do with updating but otherwise a good place. Would go there again.

This hotel was perfect for my needs - friendly staff, perfect sized room at a good price and right opposite the station with a Starbucks next door (although service v slow here in comparison!). Overall, great short term stop over in Newcastle.

The County Hotel is a beautiful old hotel that has been very well maintained. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff were great. Only improvement would be a better selection of toiletry items such as some lotion, shampoo and conditioner etc.

Hotel is located right near the train station and in walking distance of loads of places such as Utillia Arena, St James Park, Metro Centre is only a 10 minute drive. Bar and restaurant area was really nice, beds were comfortable. I really recommend if you’re looking to go and sight see or into going out drinking.
