Excellent experience with helpful reception and catering staff. Only downside is lack of air conditioning and extractor fan in bathroom. The cell rooms offer a novelty overnight stay. Scaffolding outside did not distract from a pleasurable stay in an historic area in the centre of Oxford.

Everything from when we entered to checkout was perfect. The building is unique and landscape is beautiful. Rooms are bigger than the standard European hotels. Service was excellent! Walking distance to everything. One of the best experiences I’ve had this trip. Must stay when in Oxford.

Was put in one of the dungeon rooms ("The Clink") which I had purposely NOT selected when making the booking. Nice basement room. Was quiet until the maids started work early the next morning. Their utility room door was immediately outside and was shockingly loud - kept thinking someone was opening the door to our room. Other than that I was happy with the hotel.

For the price, this was a very average stay. The elevator being out of service for the most expensive rooms is unacceptable. Staff were not overly friendly and there was construction all over the property. The front enterance for pictures was really the only interesting part. Would not recommend this hotel.

While thrilled with an early check in, my room was on the bottom floor, was cold until 2 portable heaters were brought by maintenance. The power went out on Sunday evening—9:00pm until I approached the front deck for assistance at 6:00am. Obviously no back up generators. No compensation for any inconvenience. I did have a lovely dinner at the restaurant. Overall staff was professional and pleasant.
