It was like staying in a cabin in the bush. Quiet, spacious, private and shady with a well equipped kitchen, and a bbq on the balcony. Split level sleeping arrangement and large bathroom. Easy walk to the beach and into town. We’d stay there again.

Jan met us on arrival, was super helpful and informative about the area during our 7 day stay, she even arranged a boat trip to Hole in the Rock with a discount. The apartment was small but adequate, in a lovely setting, seemed like we were in a tree house. Shared Washer/dryer is in a different building, but no problems. Refrigerator was tiny and upon arrival, freezer department was totally iced shut, this was remedied as soon as we mentioned it to Jan. Hot tub is available, but was dirty the first time we used it, and non-usable the second time we tried due to no water in the tub. This apartment is in a great location, 5 min walk to the grocery store, 15 min walk to the beach, and 25 min walk to the downtown area of this cute little village. A lovely beginning to our 2 month stay on the north island of NZ.

Above & Beyond!

Spacious apartment in a lovely bush setting with native birdsong and everything you could need. But even greater than this was the care from Jan who well and trully stepped in to help when we had car problems. Above & beyond example of genuine human spirit and goodness. Thank you!

Splashed out by booking an apartment for a 1 night stay because of the spa pool that was advertised, however, this was not available for use as it was turned off and cold - quite disappointing because this was the entire reason why we booked this property and we could have saved $120 ish by staying at one of the more central hotels in town. The room itself was quite nice - good facilities. Other things to keep in mind: 1. The cell phone reception is hit and miss and we were unable to find the wifi code so be sure to ask when checking in. 2. The bathroom roof also had some mould due to the lack of ventilation. 3. The reception lady/owner comes across a little rude but she means well.

We really enjoyed our time in this comfortable apartment, which was very well equipped and set in sub-tropical planting to give a wonderfully relaxed and private feel. Paihia was our first stop on a six week tour of NZ and this was the ideal place to unwind for a few days after a long and tiring journey from the UK The site manager, Jan, was friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout provided tips to help us make the most of our stay The location was perfect for us with just a short walk to the supermarket, beach and town. It is also just a short walk to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Our visit there to see the Māori cultural experience was a highlight and we went back for a second day (included in the price of the entry ticket). The staff were all super friendly and informative. Would also recommend taking the ferry over to Russell. The area around the ferry landing is pretty and has lots of options for a relaxing lunch overlooking the beach, but I would also suggest taking the 15 mins walk across to Long Beach, which is stunning. Also recommend visiting Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, either as part of a boat trip around the islands or as a direct return ferry trip. I was very sceptical but the visit there was another highlight for us

Got what we needed and more. Receptionist was brilliant, informative and friendly. Apartment 2 was clean and had everything and more. Had a family of five with three kids and we absolutely loved it. We'll go back there anytime.

2nd stay for us and we can't wait to go back. Has everything you could think of in the apartments. Very clean, comfortable and nice decor. Jan was really friendly and talked freely about our plans and offered great local info.

We stayed in Apartment 3. The room was clean and spacious, but could do with some ventilation. There are windows and doors but during the night it was not feasible to have them open as insects would enter the apartment. But there are no other ventilation in the room and despite using the two fans provided, it was still quite stuffy in the room

The apartment was perfect for a family of 5, everything we needed. Location was great, bed was comfortable, shower was excellent! Close to town, beach, supermarket, Waitangi, and easy to get away up north from this side of Paihia. Ideal base for a few days.

Mother and Son Family Holiday

My son and I had a lovely little break at Bay of Islands Holiday Apartments. Pleasing décor and really comfy bed. Has everything you need to cook and even clean if you make a mess. Actually really impressed with the cooking equipment. A decent frying pan! Wow! Good precautions given the Covid situations. Lovely friendly staff. I forgot to say something when we checked out but there was broken glassware and the kettle had a melted cord, which was concerning. I'm sure they would have fixed if I had said something. Something to note is that if you have someone next to you in the other apartment, the noise transfer is pretty high or maybe they were loud talkers/stompers. Luckily for us we only had that 1 night out of the 5 we stayed. I'm sure they loved it when we got up at 5am for a fishing trip. We are considerate and tried to be quiet but I didn't like the feeling of tip toeing around. Anyway not a huge issue but if you are looking for a couple seclusion, perhaps think again. I know you can't control the trees, which by the way makes for a lovely setting, although you do get a little noise from the road. My car was covered in sap droplets which took 3 carwashes to remove. Again not a biggie but may save someone from getting overly annoyed if they know this. IT COMES OFF. All round I would gladly stay here again. My son loved it! Bath is a nice touch for kids and even Adults to have an indulgent evening. Overall a really comfy place to stay. Awesome Bed!!!
