Really impressed with the Maistrali. Although is not the plushest of hotels, it was more than I expected for a 3 star property. Large spacious rooms, pool, games room, tennis courts, restaurant, private sun lounger area. Staff attentive and available 24 hours.
Protaras itself is delightful and, although touristy, presents a more authentic, cultural feel than some other cyprus popular locations. The beach is sandy and so clear you can see your feet as you walk in it. Watersports are readily available and sun loungers also for a 2.50 euro fee each (and 2.50 extra for a parasol) which can get a bit expensive if you do it daily. Parallel to Fig Tree bay is Protaras road which offers an array of shops, bus routes, cafes, bars, supermarkets and restaurants but is meandering and balanced rather than overly touristy and brash.
