The staff and service at Niraamaya is the best thing about this property. They go out of the way to make you comfortable. The food tastes like home and overall it was a great experience. The rooms and the amenities at the hotel are outdated. The pool was unusable.

Thekkady is a great place to visit due to the Periyar Wildlife Park and abundant spice plantations. The hotel staff were very happy to organise transport and activities. The hotel itself is in a nice location up in the forest but is perhaps a bit tired.

The property was beautiful and well maintained. The infinity pool was the star. The spa was also amazing. Few things need to be upgraded but other than that the resort is amazing with stunning views and yummy food.

Great vacation away from city

1) Great location - away from city center 2) Only 6 rooms and the staff gave personalized service and attention 3) Hotel restaurant's food was excellent - again they were able to customize the food - our son is allergic to tree nuts and they took care of that very well 4) If you are looking for constant and high speed connectivity to internet, that could be problem

One of the best hotels I've stayed at

I can safely say that Niramaya is a perfect hotel. Firstly all of the staff there are amazingly helpful and friendly, they even provided us with packed breakfast to go after knowing that we will miss breakfast due to our tours - which is unheard of - other hotels would just simply say "there's nothing we could do". Next up, the food in the hotel restaurant is simply out of the world, 5+ stars. Room is great and I love the open bathroom. Breathtaking views and scenery. Quiet surroundings and lovely small villages with friendly locals. DEFINITELY recommend staying there!

NICE RESORT

WE BOOKED THIS FOR OUR HONEYMOON AND WE LIKED THE RESORT. IT WAS BIT AWAY FROM THE MAIN CITY CENTER AND AWAY FROM CHAOS SO WE LIKED IT MORE HOWEVER IT COULD BE BIT TRICKY TO FIND IT ON THE FIRST DAY. THE ROOM WAS VERY GOOD. WE GOT GINGER ROOM (ONLY HAVE 6 ROOMS). RESTAURANT AND FOOD WAS GOOD. THE RECEPTION STAFF AND THE MANAGER WERE REALLY FRIENDLY AND NICE. ONE STAFF MEMBER IN THE RESTAURANT WAS BIT RUDE TO US WHENEVER WE INQUIRED/ASKED WITH HIM. MUST WATCH IS KATHAKKALI! CITY CENTER HAS MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS. THE RESORT DID NOT HAD SWIMMING POOL WHICH WAS VERY BIG NO NO BECAUSE IT WAS REQUIRED TO SPEND TIME WELL.

We stayed here because the description says 1 minute walk from Peryvar Reserve, it is not. 15 to 20 mins out of Kumily up a very bumpy track. No atmosphere at all. No yoga offered. Evening meal not good, I complained but ignored. Chef shouting in the kitchen. Pool green. Restaurant service not good at all. The best feature is the great taxi driver who works for the hotel. Although it was a VERY expensive service. Check the details before you book.

Veldig spennende omgivelser hvor det føles som man bor midt i jungelen da det er lyder fra dyr og insekter hele døgnet rundt. Det kan være behagelig å sovne til, men også litt mye i lengden, så ørepropper hadde vært fint. Det er veldig luftfuktig (naturlig nok) så det er vanskelig å få tørre klær når de først er våte. Et tørkeskap eller lignende hadde vært bra å ha. Ellers er servicen ekstremt bra. Vennlige folk som gjør alt de kan for at oppholdet er bra.

The Cardamom Club was a great experience. The pool was fantastic, the spa had great staff and the massages were extremely relaxing. The chef made excellent food and the whole staff, including Ashok and Indu and others, were really accommodating and helpful. The staff is a great asset to the property - everyone is friendly and provided help with anything that came up. I would highly recommend the mountain view cottage and the massage spa!

Oasis of tranquility

Very much enjoyed our two night stay. Great to be in the middle of the rainforest and hear to cacophony of bird song everywhere. Attention to detail was very evident and the Manager Himadri was first class. We enjoyed a two hour walk up a nearby mountain accompanied by a delightful staff member Ragu and enjoyed a 360 panoramic view over the bordering National Park. And the other standout was the kitchen with excellent fare and worked on an a la carte principle. So very pleased not to see yet another buffet! Thanks for a memorable stay.

Beautiful location and great food

Location and food very good. However road Leading up to the hotel was tortuous, the last part was closed for repair making access by car impossible, this kept us fit a d we saw lots of wildlife a d interesting culture. The disappointment was the staffs lack of knowledge an inability to help with park safaris or other activities. Poor WiFi was another disadvantage. Aspired to be 5 star but could not provide the expected 5 star experience.

Sleeping inside the forest

The retreat is small but really really nice, a hidden pearl in the middle of Thekkady forest. Staff extremely polite and helpful, the cottage are lovely and very spacious. Restaurant and extra services a little bit expensive.

What bowled us over was the warm hospitality of the staff. They made sure we were comfortable. This property is a bit off route, surrounded from 3 sides by periyar tiger reserve. The cottages are tastefully done and food was just awesome. Highly recommended.

“heaven in the jungle”

We stayed two night in this hotel and were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff. They gave us a very personal experience, took us out trekking. I would recommend this to anyone that want's a great experience with excellent food and very nice venue. Very clean and well maintained hotel.

Green all around and smart inside

We stayed at Niraamaya Cardamom Club for 6 nights and it was a very satisfying experience. The staff attitude and helpfulness is one of the best I have ever experienced in all my travels - they were tuned into observing and attending to every request and need without being intrusive or loud. The menu is an interesting mix of Continental, North Indian and Kerala cuisine with emphasis on Kerala cuisine, naturally. Though it's not an extensive menu, the quality and presentation of food was of high quality.

Nice cottages for a relaxed holiday.

This hotel is situated in between the lush greenery of forest. We always wanted to spent some days in such type of location. Food is awesome. All the staff members are very polite and helpful. Overall an excellent experience.
