We loved Velas! The property was stunning, impeccably kept up. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful and location was great. Very close to the airport was lovely on our departure day and a taxi into town was not bad. Will definitely go again.

Some reviews said having just two restaurants was a negative for this resort, but I never found any trouble with food choices. The main restaurant has theme nights, and we could order from the menu and/or get some buffet choices at dinner time. Lunch for us was by the pool and could order it through the waiters; it wasn’t super-fast, though. That said, there was a plentiful snack basket in the room, and you may ask for refills as often as needed…so we could bring some down to the pool, just in case. We used the Spa once. It was a bit pricey and not as glamorous as other locations we’ve visited in Mexico, but the service itself was good. Didn’t use the kid’s club, because a lot of what was scheduled was movies and video games, and the craft and sports activities (one of each daily) were scheduled at times that didn’t work for our family “vacation schedule”. But the facilities looked clean and kid-friendly. The night activities were fun, a bit subdued compared to other resorts we’ve visited, but we assume it’s party because this wasn’t a very busy season. We really enjoyed the magician and the singer at the main restaurant (Andrea). The pools were great and the beach was clean and well equipped with lounge chairs, tents and such. As with any resort, getting a prime spot with chairs, shade and a table was tricky for late risers, but the staff was really helpful about trying to accommodate everyone. Again, I don’t think they were at full capacity, so that helped.

Beautiful landscaping on the property. Directly on Pacific Ocean beach. Attentive staff. Two onsite restaurants, one more formal and the other laid back ocean side. Near the airport but most flights afternoon or early evening so noise not intrusive. Large large well maintained pool

Good Family Spot

We loved everything about Velas. The one-bedroom suite we stayed in had enough room for our family of 4. It was nice to have a separate sleeping space for the kids (the 2 TV room couches turn into twin beds!). The facility is clean and the staff is genuinely nice and seem happy to work there. They have a few peacocks roaming the resort and koi ponds throughout the resort that you can buy inexpensive fish food from the resort to feed them. The kids loved the wildlife! The Kid's Club was a little lacking. If you're looking to drop your kids there for a whole day or two, they probably won't last as there is not a ton do do, but friendly staff there as well. My only complaint would be the lack of food options at the hotel. One restaurant had literally closed the day before we got there so we only had two to choose from for every meal for 6 days. The beachside restaurant always had okay food, but the menu varies little from morning to morning for the breakfast/brunch. Andrea restaurant was okay food and has a rotating menu each night, but also a little lacking. If you're a foodie, this may not be the resort for you. If food is low on your list, Velas is your place for a great family vaca!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! It is Not Clean! The Rooms are outdated. They are literally falling apart. Plumbing is backing up constantly. The rooms smell like dirty Mop and Bleach. The bedding sheets smell strange as well. The food is nowhere near what would be expected of a resort of this price. Not to mention the silverware is not clean. 3 days in a row I found leftover food on my forks and spoons. Had to rewash them myself. We ordered Champagne to the room, we got dirty glasses to toast our new year... One morning I found a hear in my 3 year old's breakfast! This place is pure nasty. Even the drinks at the bar are no good. Which is hard to believe... The only thing nice about it is the grounds outside. That is IT! Everything else is like a bad motel 6. We literally did not know what to feed our children there because everything just was so dirty and felt unsanitary. I can only imagine how their kitchens look, if even the table cloths and napkins at their "finest" restaurant - "Andrea's" smell like old milk. Save your time, money, and don't spoil your vacation. This will be the saddest place you will visit. I know it was for our family. We will never forget the three miserable days we were here. We travel a lot, and we have seen many resorts. This is defiantly the first time we were ever disappointed. I'm sure it would be hard to find another place this bad in this price range. I wish I had taken more pictures to post... Its unbelievable they have so many good reviews.

The property is pretty. Too big for my liking. Stayed at los pelicanos for a few days before which was much better. Main thing that wasn’t great was the food. The dinner Buffett was lacking choices. I would recommend not going w the all inclusive as food choices are pretty limited. Breakfast is good though. Beach access awesome. Pools clean, lots of amenities . Kids club is fell of activities

The service from the front desk to the room service to the poolside and restaurant service was impeccable. Only had two restaurants but they change menus nightly and the quality of the food is much better than any resort that has 5+ restaurants. Rooms were extremely spacious and was the most comfortable room I've stayed at in Mexico ever. Was 5 minutes from the airport which was another big plus. Will definitely be going back to this same resort in the future.

The only concern I had is that we had a room that has access to the room next to it- theres a mattress that serves as a “wall” in between but I wish the door locks to feel safer. Everything else was great- the restaurants and the food were delicious, clean and very relaxing place.

Families will LOVE this Hotel

Family of 4 including a 6 and 4 year old stayed 17-20 march 2018. Check in staff could have been a little friendlier. However the rest of the staff was Excellent. We were in a one bedroom suite, the room was beautiful and maid and turn down service AMAZING. Restaurants Very Good, getting reservations were not a problem A Special Thank You to Victor and his brother Leonardo waiters at ANDREA, you made our stay feel very much like home. The food at Velas, when it comes to All inclusives is top notch, having stayed at the Hilton PV 14-17 March 2018, it was easy to compare.. Velas is Very clean resort, the staff goes out of their way to keep you happy. We hated leaving and cannot wait to go back.

Best family vacation ever

We had a wonderful time. The hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and away from tourist areas and other hotels. There is reallly no reason to leave the hotel if you are staying for a short time. There are three pools and the beach and you never feel crowded. Very family friendly with activities for everyone. The food and drinks were perfect... of course not having to cook and clean after makes everything taste great. For adults, the gym is not great but there is another facility 5 minutes away that you can use. Nice kids Club.we will definitely go back

Did it all. Hotel offers plenty of food options and even though there are limited restaurants, the menus change nightly. If you appreciate beer, don't go with high expectations. Do NOT book excursions through tour companies or vendors on the beach. Book all your excursions through the concierge at the resort.

Exceeded our expectations for All Inclusive trip

The hotel was wonderful, the location very convenient, and the all inclusive service was free flowing. I've never been anywhere where the service was just constantly offered in every way. We NEVER had to seek out service. The were so proactive and no request was too small. Our kids loved using room service and we were always treated with super fast and friendly service - no sense of them being bothered by over-use or anything else. My biggest surprise was how well they managed everything - there were never crowds, never lines, never a wait for anything, never an effort to find someone for anything, anywhere.
