Bizarrely situated right up against the Chevron oil refinery, but facing away from the sinister looming dome behind, is this impressive collection of old buildings, parts of which, on the seaward side - a fortified tower house with hall, vaulted undercroft and external staircase - are thought to date back to the C15 or even earlier. "Easy parking at the front. Staff very friendly and helpful. In fact one who's name ive forgotten even gave me a little jug of milk for my room because i didn't have enough. I didn't have breakfast but ate both evenings and the food was absolutely delicious. My room was huge but still cosy and beautifully decorated. I would most definitely stay again and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. "

"The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and very clean. If I had to find fault all I could say would be that the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak The food was really great, good buffet breakfast with freshly ground coffee. The evening meal was delicious, good choice for vegitarians. A walk to the ruined Bishops Palace next door was a great. Amazing riuns lota of the old building to explore. The Hotel is set waway from main roads etc and was very peacfull and quiet. "

"The reception staff were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. I left my phone charger at home and they lent me one for the weekend. The room was a single and clean, although the decor was dated (the description did say it was a Victorian building). I had breakfast both mornings at The Galley Restaurant which was an all you can eat. The food was hot and fresh and had everything you would expect for a buffet restaurant. I also ate in the hotel for the Saturday evening and was made to feel very welcome and at ease as a solo traveller. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! All in all, a lovely stay"
