“We read the reviews and were intrigued. We stayed in winter, and it is cold in Bothwell. It would have been much more inviting if the hosts had the heater running prior to our arrival, but once the property warmed up after a few minutes the shock of how cold it was faded away. We stayed in the 1837 cottage. The accommodation is rustic, eclectically furnished and decorated, and gives an appreciation of life in times gone by. If you are after elegant, refined and well finished accommodation...

“The accommodation we stayed in were converted stables. The rooms were well appointed, recently decorated and warm (we stayed in winter). The accommodation is annexed to the hotel. The hotel is the epitome of a country pub with traditional pub fair, eight ball and friendly locals in their seats at the bar. Not a refined experience but everything we were after, we were comfortable, fed well and welcomed.”
