It is located in a favela but it is still completely safe and close to Copacabana. Staff was really friendly and I would recommend this unique experience for everyone.

Excellent!
For those who want to see more than the "all-the-same" hotels at Copacabana, and learn something about daily life in favela Babilonia, this is the place worth staying. Nice, clean and with the breathtaking view from the terrace. Friendly owner of Belgian origin, speaking English and French, explained us a lot about the life in Rio, and took us to the trip to the top of Morro di Babillonia with wonderfull 360degree view to Sugar Loaf, Botafogo, Corcovado and Copacabana. We enjoyed our stay very much!

A hidden gem with 5 star view in Babilonia Favela
This is a very well managed hostel in favela babilonia. The view is great and both sunset and night time, you can see the Christ from the hostel. There is also a bar/ restaurant comes with the hostel so you can have very delicious and budget food here. I have received a free capriniha after I arrive. Although the this hostel takes further 5-10 minutes climbing up after the taxi drop off point, it definitely worth it as the view is great and you will experience the real life in favela.
