I can’t fault Banana House, for its central location, comfort, cleanliness, amenities and for the communication of the staff. The concierge Manu was particularly charming, friendly and helpful, even to the point of issuing us safety warnings about possible trouble in the city from a planned demonstration. I would have given a full five stars but for one reservation and that was noise. My room (orange) was at the front of the building facing what from first impression is a very quiet little street. However because the windows are old and original and no secondary glazing every sound was heard from the street, around 2.00am the garbage and street washing trucks and from early morning the chatter of passers by and trolleys on the cobbles. To add to the cacophony (not the fault of Banana) but construction going on nearby with incessant drilling that started around 7.30am until siesta, so no hope of a peaceful lie in! I would urge Banana if possible to install some kind of insulation screen between the windows and the room to reduce the noise. I doubt the rooms facing the back of the building have the same issues. Also I didn’t fully realise when I booking, but the two rooms at the front share a communal shower room and toilet which although spotlessly clean isn’t ideal for privacy. I would definitely stay again but would request a room facing the back with an ensuite.

Excellent location, room, bed, spa, rooftop, other guests, vibe!!!, etc. Full marks! (despite the cleaner/helper that unlocked the kitchen 9am that was really not friendly at any time that we saw him). Ps: The wifi was fast and the air conditioner top quality.
