Shrewsbury, England hotel rooms at the Best Western

"Plenty of areas inside and out for our little dog to spend time with us. Location is excellent and only a short drive from the Mynd. We ate in the bar one evening and that was friendly, relaxed and atmospheric."

"If you can, avoid room 011 (ground floor), not sure what is above but footsteps came through the ceiling late at night and again early morning which woke me. Told reception on leaving but just got a “sorry about that”. Some staff nice and friendly. Public areas OK but a bit tired in places. Free parking and a service station in walking distance. Overall did the job but not cheap. "

"The property is a bit dysfunct in places so more frequent maintenance and upkeep would be required. E.g., the white bathtub surface was peeling in places and the wash basin taps were a bit leaky. The bathroom towel rack didn't heat up when it was supposed to. The duvet covers somehow didn't seal close so the duvet escaped the cover over the night. Toiletries came in little bottles and hand soap came in bars, which were both a bit inconvenient to use. We were there over a stormy weekend and the windows were a bit leaky to the wind. Furniture was overall a bit wobbly. Housekeeping did one thing which was dumping my pyjamas onto the floor, which I was quite shocked to have discovered when I came back after the day. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, so that made up for it."

"From reception staff to breakfast staff there were excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect for seeing all the sights. Breakfast was excellent. Apart from that the room were basic. Nothing special. Hotel has been given 4 stars. I think it should be 3 stars. Also when booking this hotel. They should give details where the carpark is. "

"Stayed one night. Food was excellent in the restaurant and a very good breakfast. The staff were lovely. We were up in room 20 which is up two flights of stairs so beware of accessibility. "

"Not the greatest place I have stayed in, had a room that faced onto the main road and barely had any sleep both nights.... rooms are very dated and in need of an urgent upgrade. I left the door hanger on asking for room to be serviced but on my return I found that the cleaner had just folded up wet and dirty towels and put them back on the radiator. There are no facilities to get food here at the hotel and the bar was not open at any time during our visit. Not faciliated for people with mobility issues either. "
