Skidaway Island State Park, Moon River District hotel rooms at the Independent

"Omg! This was listed as the number one hotel in the area and they did NOT disappoint! From the staff’s friendliness and greeting upon arrival, to the ease of access to the parking, everything was top notch! The best part was they not only served free breakfast, but also a dinner kickback form 5:30-7pm with 3 free drinks per adult for each night of your stay. There were only two negatives 1. the pool didn’t open until 9am on the weekends which is a bummer. I think it should be opened a little earlier maybe around 7ish on the weekends for the early morning people, who just want a quick dip in the pool before starting their day. The other negative was there’s only one set of elevators in the entire building. It tends to get overcrowded during peak times and even wait times during slower times were still a bit long, but manageable. Other than that, everything else was worth the price and the trip there. Going forward, I will only be staying at Drury no matter how far I have to travel."

"The breakfast was excellent and included an omelet station. The hotel is newly renovated and very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. "

"it should be expected that a mid-price hotel would be lacking things like restaurant, a fitness/exercise area. But the general condition of the rooms shouldn't be poor; our bathroom had a toilet handle that was dangling, there was no stopper for the bathroom sink, and as a result even without one, the water easily backed up. the bathtub/shower enclosure seems to have been recaulked in areas by a 6 year old. Additionally, parking is via valet only, at $30/night. The room itself was acceptable and clean."
