Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel

"The Mercure Hotel in Hull is a lovely old building with decent parking and a nice, spacious entrance hall. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was okay. There were clearly lots of functions taking place, which gave the hotel a busy atmosphere, but thankfully we could not hear any of this from our room. The room itself was a good size, but very basic. To be fair, the price does reflect that; however, the room was not very well maintained. The property is clearly old and now needs proper renovation. For example, the towel rail fell off when I put a towel on it, the toilet did not match the rest of the bathroom suite, and the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. It felt like parts of the room had been cheaply refurbished rather than properly improved. The bed was squeaky, the TV was tiny, and the coffee facilities were very basic. Overall, it should probably be marketed more clearly as a budget hotel. That said, it has real potential. With some investment, better maintenance and a more thoughtful refurbishment, it could be so much more. It was obviously a busy hotel, which is a good sign, but it could definitely be better."

"Parking was good, right outside our room. Staff were very friendly and nice. There was a good choice for breakfast of cooked and cereal. The room was clean, did notice a couple of spiders, one small one in the bath which was easily washed down the bath and one above the wardrobe storage, which didn't cause any problems. The light in the mirror one side had dimmed. Very central to York 1/2 and hour and 1 hour from Bridlington. There is a manned bar, but on Wednesday night it wasn't open which was a disappointment. They only serve breakfast now, and the sign on the motel says that it has a restaurant which is incorrect. Based based right on a main road, traffic can only be heard first thing in the morning."

"A beautiful rural location with wonderful countryside views and nature in abundance in an elegant and very well cared for property. Attention to detail in seen throughout the hotel from arrival in the car park, through a perfectly manicured courtyard and pleasant reception area. My room looked out onto fields . Two large windows that let a lovely breeze into the room. Elegantly decorated room with all you need for a comfortable stay and perfect sleep. The bed was a dream. I slept all night through. Great power shower in a large bathroom with lovely fluffy towels. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of continental choices in a beautifully decorated dining room. I opted for the Yorkshire breakfast with poached egg option. Everything was high quality, warm, tasted wonderful and served by lovely people who made our stay a pleasure. Good quality coffee was a treat too. I almost opted for avocado crumpets, they sounded amazing but was very pleased with my choice. Check in and check out a breeze too. What a superb asset Loftsome Bridge hotel is. I'd fully recommend stays for anyone."
