You can bring your own food and water in. A seat in the shade is always better than the lawn GA.
I would recommend taking public transportation as this area gets a lot of traffic during game time
Nice experience
Prices are getting so high for spring training that you might as well wait for a real game in which they play the top players. When we were here 5 years ago seats were cheap and we loved Sloan park. This time (since they won the World Series) we found seats to go incredibly fast to Stub Hub etc. and prices were way too high. Tips: Split a hotdog - They make you get foot long hotdogs. Maybe buy lawn seats and then stand in back of home plate area and watch. They have a rail to put your drinks down. Even lawn seats are way overpriced!
Don't miss the morning practice fields. Kids should bring a glove to catch foul balls.
