In the era of COVID-19, traveling now comes with more challenges than in the past. Cast your eye over these useful tips before jumping on your plane to Southwestern New Mexico:

• Look into what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you lock something in.
• When you pass through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it for identification purposes. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• To minimize handling during screening, place items such as your loose change and phone into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to handle and inspect your belongings.
