The property is definitely in need of a lick of paint in some areas, but everything needed for our one night stay was there and the staff were as helpful as possible, efficient and keen to please.

Friendly
Very friendly staff. Just needs a refresh like many hotels.
Friendly, helpful staff. On arrival at check in, the hotel receptionist saw I was limping and said he would change our room to a ground floor one. Also, we said we are gluten intolerant and he said he would let chef know- chef coincidentally appeared in the hallway on the way to our room and said what a great choice there will be for breakfast! Very welcoming and accommodating here!
The hotel had a wedding reception the first night we stayed. There was no issue with the noise or wedding because staff had taken time to explain what was happening when we checked in.
The staff went out of their way to help us with opening doors and settling in.
The two brothers who work there were exceptional, kind and understanding as we were staying in the hotel due to difficult family circumstances.
We would like them to know their kindness was appreciated.
Not the best, in need of some TLC , the room they gave me someone had been smoking in the room, but to be fair after pointing it out they did change the room.
I found out at check in that I had overlooked the fact there was no air conditioning and it was hot and stuffy. There was a fan which I used. Gent at front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was nice.
From check in to check out, our sta was absolutely wonderful, the room and bathroom were gorgeous, clean fresh and warm. Theres tea making facilities, tv, a troser press and iron and hair dryer.
The halls and dining rooms are all beautifully decorated, homely, fresh and clean throughout. The downstairs toilets were lovely, fresh and very well equipped.
Theres seating outside, with a small beautifully kept garden, full of mature trees and planting.
All the staff were exceptionally efficient, friendly and helpful.
Woodlands is an easy 7 minute walk into the town, gardens and museum's.
We recommend this hotel very highly!💯💯💯💯💯

Disliked: Cleanliness
Not for me
My experience at this hotel wasn’t what I would expect, the cleanliness was a big issue, with old wrappers and very old dust buildup.
Its the worst place i have ever stayed in. Room 8 with the central heating and water pumps , cleaning closet adjoining constant noise all night and day. Breakfast disgusting everything over cooked burnt and dry i never saw a runny egg yolk for 3days. No service, if want something ri g a bell !!! The cook constantly had ear phones in. No WIFI Upstairs in my room, and WIFI didnt work on checkout. The AA need to re evaluate the 3star rating !!! A waste of hard esrned money!!!
We had not been informed after we booked that a wedding was being held there that weekend. As a non-wedding guest you would have thought the hotel would have put us in the farthest room away not directly over the disco. There was laughing, screaming and slamming doors till the early hours. The stair carpets are threadbear the room carpet is filthy. The wifi didnt work. Then to after a dreadful nights sleep in a lumpy bed, there was no hotwater and no one on reception to explain why. The only redeaming feature was the staff were helpful and polite and the breakfast was excellent.
Just a quick overnight stay, hotel is convenient for the town, free on site parking and breakfast included.
There was a wedding party, but this didn’t seem to impact on service. There was no dining facility available for the evening but I had planned to eat out anyway. The cooked breakfast was fine, cereals and fruit juice available too and the lady serving was friendly and helpful.
We booked an executive room and were given a Small room with a double bed in it. The room had not been cleaned properly there were 2 bath robes on the back of the bathroom door both very old and grey looking. The windowsill on the stairs contained dead flies. A bad experience will not be going back The hotel in general was very tired looking. The stay was disappointing.
