The room was clean, nice and comfortable. I appreciate the front desk giving ear plugs since there is a bar on the side that does play music most evenings. The day staff was very friendly and had good recommendations around the area. It had a great location in the middle of the city and walkable to all the big things you want to see on your visit.

This hotel was the perfect location for our first trip to Edinburgh as it was centrally located in the Old Town. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The only hiccup we had was they had turned on the heat for the season and because our first few days were unseasonably warm it made the room super uncomfortable. It also didn’t help that the windows barely opened although the concise staff did give us an extra fan. Also if you’re a light sleeper keep in mind that the pub below can get a little rowdy on weekends into the wee hours.

We had a fantastic stay here. The room was spacious and beautiful. There was tea and coffee supplied, plus a closet with some hangers and a really cute bathroom. The area was 8 mins walking distance from most things we wanted to see. One of the main streets was a little sketchy at night but we just took other routes. My only complaint/recommendation would be to add a mini fridge to the room. It would have saved us so much money and there’s more than enough space to have one. That and to add a dresser or furniture we could put our clothes away in as all the drawers present were pretty small and unusable.

the House of Binns is a really interesting place due to the beauty of the stately home and the tale of General Tam Dalyell, who formed the legendary regiment of Royal Scots Greys. There are many mementos of him in the house, as well as colourful legends about his dealings with the Devil to discover. The legend describes Tam's games of cards with the Devil, although the devil normally beat Tam, one night Tam won, he had placed a mirror behind satan so that he could read his hand and in fury the Devil threw a marble table at him. However, it missed and it landed in the Sergeants' Pond outside. A marble table was indeed found when the pond dried up 200 years later. The cards, goblet and spoon, supposedly used in the game are displayed in the house. The General is said to have told the Devil, who threatened to blow down his house and its walls, that "I will build me a turret at every corner to pin down my walls"
