"I love staying at the Ritz in st Thomas. More than anything we enjoy the employees. They are always helpful and make the trip worth it. I traveled there 2 years ago and I noticed several cut backs and things that they could improve on. For instance the serve the same food every single day for breakfast potatoes, bacon/sausage and eggs. They need to add pancakes and French toast because the food gets boring. The have different options for the lunch/ dinner snacks but again not very family kid friendly so you pay all that money to have a lounge, if you drink you have access to alcohol and regular beverages but for the up charge of the club it wasn't worth it like it was 2 years ago when they had a lot better options. They do offer other restaurants but they are very pricey. Just for one order of chicken strips and fries at 9-10pm was $50 and that was the only option for food at that time of night and $35 of it was to deliver it. Plan on having lots of tipping money because the only way to get good service is to tip the employees for everything and like I said they make the trip worth it. The friendliest people are prince at bell desk, Bertha, Ruth, Catherine and Susie at the club. They are the best."
"Amazing views in every direction and centrally located. The shared bathroom was clean and large. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious too. I would visit again!"
"Our experience at the Secret Harbour Beach Resort was fantastic. It was a beautiful property with great ocean views and a very friendly staff. We will be back!"
Buoy Haus Beach Resort St. Thomas, Autograph Collection
8/10 Good
"We really enjoyed our stay at Buoy Haus. The property was well kept and felt upscale as we had hoped. Our room was very clean and the entire staff was always friendly, helpful and polite. We saw some staffing issues with staff not showing up and previous staff having to stay late or work a second shift etc. We definitely felt horrible for those employees since they work so hard, and hopefully they are able to work out those kinks in order to keep the great staff they have.
We ate at Isla Blue on our first night. We got the Chef's tasting menu and it was amazing. We ate breakfast at SugarFin one time and it was good. One evening we ate at the Salt Shack and got the whole jerk chicken. It had excellent flavor and great atmosphere. All our other meals we at off property.
My only recommendation would be to have a little nicer designated smoking area. I am someone who smokes occasionally while on vacation and I was told the designated smoking area was literally on top of the property's septic tank. Yes, I realized ahead of time that the property was smoke free, but was assured there was a smoking area. I have no issue with taking a walk and being courteous to the other guests. I wouldn't have it any other way. However, sitting on a septic tank with no lighting at night was a bit unaccommodating. When we visited the Westin on the top of the hill they had a lovely smoking area away from non smoking guests that had a nice bench to sit on. Much more pleasant."
"Staff always where's there to order us a cab and give us advice as to the island, and the water was consistently warm without troubles. I like how they're complimentary breakfast was not just a series of cereals and cold cuts, but was actually cooked. Small, but appreciated and with a lovely view.
I can add the emphasize how beautiful the the rooftop, where there was both a pool, a bar, and a restaurant, truly was and especially at night.
Stairs were not that big a problem, but for the elderly or incapacitated it would have been a major struggle.
The Walking distance to downtown Charlotte was very easy and the many times when we would walk just a few minutes to grab something in the touristy areas of the city."
