We only booked at 4pm and they had one room left so it wasn’t the best but we got a good price. Bed was comfy. Staff are friendly and pleasant. We had the Sunday roast and it was very good. Would stay again.

We had a very last minute booking, but the staff were very attentive and accommodating. The room was good and spacious, located in the annex, it did not have bath, but we were OK with the shower. The food is good, the breakfast was lovely, however continental part has no porridge and no cheese/charcuterie, just corn and other flakes and bread and jam and some small pastries. Beautiful location, building, good and comfy beds and good service

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful location. All the staff were very polite and the check-in staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The room was very clean with a lovely view across countryside. We stayed on a Sunday so had a roast dinner in the evening which was very high quality and a very generous portion. We got 30% of as my wife has a blue light card. This doesn't apply to drinks but includes food and accommodation so don't forget to bring yours if you have one. There is a good size free car park. You just have to enter your registration number on the tablet at reception. If you are an ale drinker they have Nethergate from near by Long melford that was superb. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Restaurant had too many flies for my liking. We stayed in Room 2. The WiFi in that room is virtually non-existent.. TV remote control had no batteries. One wall light was not working (bulb had blown). Surfaces of desk and bedside cabinets were “sticky”. Not sure what they use to clean the surfaces with but they could do with finding something better. Hotel needs a good clean and a refresh. Hotel staff were all really great though. Ambiance very good. Beds & room servicing were all very good.

We booked this hotel when we travelled from Kent to a 50th wedding anniversary. The location is beautiful, right on the river with country views. A short walk into the pretty town. The hotel was very nice, the breakfast plentiful with a good choice. We also ate in the restaurant and had a very nice meal. The room was large and had a nice bathroom with a great shower. There is no lift in this hotel, but there are rooms nearby which might suit people who would have difficulty climbing the stairs. There are also low beams, which are charming but be aware if you are tall. All in all we were very happy with our stay. Sudbury and the surrounding areas are lovely. We went into Cambridge one day using the Trumpington park & ride, and went to Clare castle and country park. I would happily recommend this hotel.
