Great service ! All the staffs are very polite and helpful .
A new hotel with amazing design and room decorations, spacious sitting space and huge bathroom, seperated tolit room. The staff was very helpful and the services were excellent, they helped us arranging a private car for our trip. The breakfast was great with quality food and choices. The only issue was the shower room drainage. Highly recommended.
I was a little hesitant booking this hotel as I typically stay at Hyatt or Marriott’s, but this hotel was a gem! Beautiful prohibition style design with high quality build. They should have picked a higher quality laminate as there were scratches on over the surface. The breakfast and bar were above average. There is an on site self service laundry machine. The gym was the only thing completely lacking, they have cheap elliptical, bike and stair stepper.
The rooms were nice and spacious! They had some of the nicest staff I’ve ever met! They made the entire experience pleasant! Even the staff who didn’t speak English were always welcoming and willing to provide assistance.
The breakfast was filling and delicious. The menu changes some after a couple of days, so good for those wanting a little of variety! The pay attention to the small details. I loved the full sized bathtub! And the showers were also very spacious.
Only thing to be aware of is that it was VERY hot the first week of October and the air conditioner would turn off during the night or when you leave. I am so one who gets hot very quickly, but my friend isn’t and she said the temperature was still pretty decent if you’re an average person.
The location was good to walk the main food night market in the area, with plenty of food around the immediate area. Anything you may need help with just ask to see if they can help you. Can also order delivery to this location. And the staff can store your luggage before or after check-in/check-out.
Overall, as a first time visitor to Taiwan I will surely stay here again when I visit this country again this year!
I have mixed feelings about Oku Hotel, but overall I’m happy with my four-night stay here in mid-December 2025.
What I liked:
-Spacious rooms
-Newly renovated (though not brand new) property
-A whimsical design theme inspired by the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, with many unique decorative details
-Very professional and friendly staff
-Complimentary breakfast with a generous variety of options
What made me uncomfortable:
-There’s a noticeable wood scent when you enter the hotel, which I don’t mind. However, my room had a strange odor, almost as if someone had smoked weed and tried to cover it up with heavy perfume. Not the end of the world, but noticeable.
-We happened to visit the second-floor bar during a bartending event and stayed for a while. The drinks were mediocre and cost about TWD 500 each after a 10% service charge. That part was fine, but a middle-aged male supervisor interrupted our conversation with the server and asked the staff to take orders from other tables. This may be a cultural difference, but if the goal is to sell high-end cocktails, servers should be encouraged to interact with guests and introduce the drinks. Just my two cents.
-The hotel is located in an older neighborhood, so don’t expect city views.
This is easily the most beautiful hotel that I have personally stayed in in Taiwan. The art deco aesthetic is well-conceived and executed throughout the property. I am deeply impressed by its beauty, and staying here is an experience.
Our room was also quite large, larger than some of the other two-bed rooms I saw during our stay. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable. We stayed in room 802, and would request this room again if we were to stay there.
The issue is, once you've experienced actual 5 star service, service that is very close but not quite there sticks out like a sore thumb. The service was very good, but overly stiff. I was drinking a glass of water in the lobby from the provided glasses and dispenser. I was stopped on the way to the elevator because you're not allowed to bring the glass of water from the lobby to the room... It was a strange, uncomfortable moment that could've been easily avoided. There were a couple of other small moments like this that were just... a little bewildering? Where other 5 star hotels would've found a solution to these issues (or had them prepared), it seems like the staff were trained to be rules-focused, rather than comfort-focused. It's absolutely a training problem.
The other issue is that, well, it's Taiwan. A 15 minute walk with luggage from the closest train station is an adventure, and the immediate neighborhood is a bit boring.
Overall, gorgeous, great hotel. A little awkward service and location.
The hotel decor is very interesting and the rooms were very comfortable. The problem was that the hotel no longer provides any food other than breakfast. The bar downstairs had cold drinks but very limited desserts. Orpheus ok.
Impressive hotel hardware, however no 24 hr lounge coffee offer like many other hotels, there is a strange smell in my room and they did offer an air purifier but no a replacement room, the smell lingers through out my stay.
Breakfast is top notch, no room service even thought they have a restaurant in the hotel.
Overall, a nice new hotel in a good location but when you look out the windows you would think you're in a third world country.
