Staff member was friendly and accommodated our request. Rooms were ok and matched the photo. Unfortunately the grounds were scruffy and needed maintenance- a lick of paint, some weed whacking etc to make it look more welcoming.

The actual property looks quite different to how the website and booking sites present it. The place is very run down with the sign falling off, looks abandoned on arrival and does not really deserve the name “grandeur” or “resort“. Reception area is quite rough and dirty looking despite the staff being friendly enough. The room on arrival smell wierd but seemed to air out over time. Sheets and beds were clean and nice but the couch was so old and stained we had to request a sheet to lay on top of it. The bathroom had been done up which was good and clean. Overall just seemed very run down for what we paid. The main issue, is it is not accurately presented on the websites.

Honestly, when i arrived the first impressions were: "Have I been scammed? Is this place still open?" I couldnt see anyone around and the buildings looked pretty run down. However, I did receive a very warm welcome and the room was very clean and well put together. The place is dated. However, it is comfortable and fine if you dont need to walk anywhere for anything.

The linen/towels etc were nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable but the level of maintenance for the whole property was very poor. I imagine that it was a lovely property and with some scrubbing of the walls and waterblasting and painting e.g the railings outside the rooms would really help. Yes there'd been some extremely heavy rain and gumboots, if we had some to get through the large puddles outside the rooms. It could look really nice again with some physical effort.

Basic but neatly presented room, clean enough. Location is nice if you like a quiet area, but still close enough/short drive to key areas like Huka Falls and Taupo town centre. Soundproofing is not the best though so expect to hear your neighbour moving about. The room was listed as having a hairdryer but this was not there upon check-in. Went to ask reception the next day but reception was unmanned, so I just skipped and air-dried… no biggie, just a small irk. Parking is very easy, right outside your room on a gravel area.

Old quaint buildings; located outside of the township, with lovely big spaces; a playground for children, plus an outdoor swimming pool; very country and sort of cowboy but without the horses. Enjoyed our stay here.
