Quite spacious as we had a family unit with single beds in a separate room. Heater worked well as it was cool and we got wet during our visit to Milford Sound. Quiet place.

A little run down but fine! Easy walk to the town. The restaurants were all heaving with tourists so best to book if you want to eat out at high season

Very basic but surprisingly comfortable
We arrived around 3 pm. There was no one on reception and our key was taped to the door. We found our own room which had been skim cleaned. Toiletries were provided but were all tucked away in a drawer out of sight.

Motel is old and our beds were old bedding clean but bathroom was dirty black mold in the shower and floor dirty. Microwave was filthy and floor hadn’t been cleaned. Would not recommend this motel at all.

This was the worst hotel on our entire trip. The office closed at 4pm. We called ahead and the person did not want to have to come back to meet us. Went thru a pre-pay process to avoid him having to make a trip. Arrived - room pretty run down. A friend locked himself out and had to call someone to come unlock the room. The owner/mgr arrived pretty quickly. Our fan plug was broken - asked for another one - was told maintenance not in on the weekend as he was in his vehicle pulling out. No offer of anything else. With a little fixing up it could be ok - but no effort has been put into it. Stayed in much nicer locations for much less money during the trip. Would not recommend.

Reception office was closed and no one was in attendance from the moment of arrival to point of departure. All communication / instructions was via notes taped on pieces of paper taped to the office door. Did not see a single motel staff. Room was tidy and clean. Double bed was rather low and on the soft side. Room was clean and tidy. Kitchen tap was leaking. Basically it is a row of self contained units with shingle car parking right outside each unit door. If service is required a mobile phone number is provide to call for assistance.

a small yet fine motel complex with complete facilities. After our arrival we had to clean the small kitchen which was well equipped, but this did not detract from our stay. We had a room with good heating as well as a kitchen and a small shower with toilet. We loved the small terrace which was surrounded by rhododendron bushes and had a great view of the mountains. Parking right outside the front door was also no problem. Pay washing machine is available. Alpenhorn was an ideal starting point for us on foot and by car to reach the surrounding natural beauty.

We Turned up to a vacant place, floor was still dirty in the kitchen, curtains ripped, towells freyed on the edges. N complimentary milk for a cup of tea. Cold dated and looked nothing like the pictures. We left after one night due to the conditions, an absolute dissapointment and would like a refund. A terrible stay and not at all what it was advertised as. Absolute shame.

Motel as a bit old, however very comfortable. Staff made my late arrival very easy Parking off the street and at your door. Not on the main drive along the lake, but one block away from the lakeshore drive and walk. Can easily (<10Min) walk to the glow worm tour or to the small (nicely done) downtown as well as some nice restaurants. Of my several nights on the South Island, this was my favorite layover. Don't miss the Sand Fly Cafe for Eggs Benedict (a new name now, but google knows it as Sand Fly.

Property was neat and clean. Kitchen facilities were great. Nice to have the pedestal fan provided - it was hot in the room and we were unable to open windows due to no fly screens (apparently the norm in NZ). Shower was old and antiquated - we had to fix the knob, as it was screwed on in the opposite direction. Walls between units were paper thin - all voices from neighbours were heard (we were conscious not to speak too loudly). Contactless check-in was great. Convenient short 10-15 min walk to boat jetty and town. Overall, a lovely little motel at a very reasonable price.

The property condition did not live up to the photos on Expedia the property was tired at best and in desperate need of a renovation, holes in the curtains, a manky stove that needs a deep clean, a 3 channel TV, cold water tap not working, the list just goes on, all have been mentioned in previous reviews leaves me thinking the management dont care at all.

Give this a miss!
This hotel does not match its description. The grounds are overgrown and basics done, but loos neglected. The bed linens are rumble, the bath towels are small, thin and have threads hanging from them. Booking three rooms, I would have hoped we be next to one another. Not very close to town center but walkable.

Hi Laura, Because you booked three rooms at a 7 room motel we could never guarantee that you would be together as all of the rooms are different, so we obviously have to allocate you into the room types you booked. The bath towels are standard size and sufficient for use, but you are correct, they are in need of replacement. I am sorry that you didn't like the 10 minute walking distance, this is something most guest love about us! Thanks for leaving a review, safe travels!

Convenient overnight stop.
Good overnight stop. We arrived after front desk hours but had pre-arranged for a key to be left for us. Staff helpful with local advice. Will be staying again.
