Budget hotel in a reasonably good location close to public parking. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was pretty welcoming and accommodating. These are all the pluses. The condition of the property, however, is terrible. No air conditioning (as expected), but there was also low air circulation in the room. Even being terribly tired after a long day you may not have a comfortable sleep. Furniture, walls are all awfully tired. On the top of all, room had no flowing water in the morning. So you can’t take a shower, flush the toilet or even wash your hands. So I would never return and never recommend anyone staying here!

The hotel is very conveniently located near the bus station, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are very good. On the down side the wifi was unreliable and could not be accessed at peak times, secondly my room's only source of natural light was a light well which was a bit depressing.

Nice Hotel in great location. Plenty areas to sit and sunbathe, also small pool area. Room and all areas were very clean. Nice foyer with a reasonably priced bar. Breakfast was included, limited choice, however adequate.

Good central hotel.
I had a budget room so it was ok, there are nicer options with balcony. There is a nice foyer to sit in. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Nice and central and only 10 minutes from the bus station.

I liked the location of this hotel as it was easy to get around to different central points - although cars and coaches had to drop us around the corner but it was a short walk. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that it took a few days of me constantly asking for an iron. The WiFi was really bad. Also the room temperature couldn’t be adjusted and was often cold in the night. There was no air conditioning or heating facilities in the room.

Good stay, nice room, attentive staff, food tasty for breakfast and dinner. Roof top pool small and refreshing good for cooling down with good views of mount Teide and the atlantic ocean. Accessability dificult due to different levels and stair access to lifts, room toiletries very limited, food not always replenished after initial rush.

Disappointing stay
We have stayed before at the Marte and it was ok. This time the room had a really bad sour drain smell the whole and we complained.. The breakfast was very very poor!! Cold beans... no scrambled egg.. very limited choice of hot food fatty bacon... overall it was not worth half the money and we won't return.. We are disappointed because we liked the service and location but they have dropped their standards too low I'm afraid..

Hotel Matte was is in a great location, only 5 mins walk to old centre of Puerto with bars,cafés etc. About 10 mins walk to the harbour. Staff are so friendly and can't do enough. Rooms have plenty of wardrobe space with extra draws. Cleanliness is exceptional. Bar staff great, just a brilliant hotel.

Highly recommend!
Hotel employees are so kind and helpful. Went out of their way to pack us a lunch to go on the day we left because we had missed dinner the night before. Food is good! There is a pool atop the hotel with STUNNING views of Tiede and Puerto Cruz. Chaise lounges and umbrellas included. Located a 2 minute walk from main bus area if you are coming by public transport. Very easy to find. The only inconvience I saw was the lack of air conditioning in the rooms, could be a problem during the summer but in the winter it was fine.

Everything was simply amazing. I have never been in better hotel. Really. The room is not large, but it has all you need for amazing holiday. People who write negative rewievs have to be luxurious guests who look for 5 stars hotels. This hotel has three stars and I think, that it should have at least four. But room is not everything. Breakfest was delicious, better than in café, really amazing. You have wide range of choice. I really appreciated hot buffet. Dinners were better than in local restaurants. I think that for this price of the hotel I would not find better hotel in whole Canary islands. Really recommend!!!!!!! Best stay ever. Location is near the sea and also main bus station. Everything you need is nearby. I have never stayed in better hotel for this price!! It should have 4 stars! Absolutely amazing.

Hotel Marte is situated in the old quarter of the town and is very convenient for wandering around the picturesque lanes , visiting quaint restaurants and a short walk from the Harbour and the bus station.It is not on the modern and rather more brash side of the town, so if you want English bars, Irish bars, and large modern restaurants you would do better to go to the other side of the island. The hotel lets itself down by having grubby and stained carpet in the lobby that leads to the second floor and the lift, giving the hotel an unloved appearance to new guests, which is a shame as it could so easily be replaced. Although on its website the hotel says that all Superior rooms have a view of either the Atlantic Ocean or Mount Teide, this is not true as the first room we were given, room 302, had the view of a building and an array of corrugated iron roofs. Also the patio door did not lock and had a big gap between it and the wall, so we complained and were moved after three days to room 307 which was like chalk and cheese and not only had a locking patio door, but a terrace, a fan and a decent bed as well of views of both the mountain and the sea. The breakfast is plentiful but sadly lukewarm. The one dinner we had in the hotel when we arrived also had the potential to be a nice meal but was lukewarm as well. Small things like this could be attended to by the hotel and would make everyone's memories of the hotel better. Despite this I would visit this hotel again

Good alround stay.
Good alround stay, location near old town, nice breakfast, evening buffet meal very ordinary (only used once, many local eateries at good prices) 11 euros + drinks, very nice roof top lounging area with small pool (unheated), beds, umbrellas and excellent view of the ocean and mount Teide. Rooms as per the online brochure, towels changed as required. Local parking on street no charges, sometimes hard to find, but location of the bus station is in the next street, with regular airport buses and buses to many more places of interest, taxis plentifull to get around Puerto de la Cruz. Good hotel with all the basics at a price to suit your pocket.

Comfortable hotel in the centre of town. Close to restaurants and bars.There is also a substantial amount of free public parking nearby. There was a good variety of food at breakfast although the hot food was pretty cold. The staff at reception were brilliant and extremely friendly. The room was quiet and clean. The only drawback for the room was that this hotel only seems to have single beds. They are very narrow! They were fine for my husband and I (we didn't attempt to share one single bed) but may be a problem for others.

It’s average in many respect and staff are mostly helpful n friendly, facilities not adequate for the number of rooms particularly during the breakfast and dinner. Very strange to find tea, coffee vending are covered during dinner and you r required to pay for drinking water. foods are there but they could do a bit more to improve taste and supply in time in dining area,

A traditional comfortable hotel
The hotel is very near the bus stop where we arrived from the south airport and is near all the amenities of the old town. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is fairly quiet and traditional and had been recently refurbished in the areas round our room. The breakfasts had a very wide choice and one could eat inside or out. The roof terrace was excellent with views towards the sea and the mountains, and the small pool was very refreshing between sunbathing sessions. There was musical entertainment on several evenings and people danced. One night a group of colourful local folk musicians and dancers entertained us which we really enjoyed. The barman also made excellent Margaritas! We will definitely return.

Great location
Great location in Puerto de la Cruz. Everything on the doorstep, great shops, quirky shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, nearby beautiful beach. 2 min walk to main bus station & airport shuttle pick up at Dania Park/Trianflor hotels. Can't wait to return but would pay a bit extra for a more luxurious room with balcony on upper floors near the roof terrace & swimming pool. Can't complain at all though about the room I had. It was nice with T.V. Lovely bathroom, memory foam bed & excellent value at only £47 for two nights with good buffet breakfast.

The hotel is located such that it makes walking to beaches, parks and gardens along with the zoo easy and pleasant. 45 minutes in every direction.

The food was absolutely terrible. The position of the hotel was close to the town. The staff didn't speak much English. No English guests only my husband and I. The hotel was in a hilly position. The room was very dated, though clean. The shower was powerful. No reception on t.v at all. No tea making facilities. Hotel drinks very expensive. No reception on Internet only in the reception area, and was poor quality then. Lift only fit in two people. Noisy early in the morning, and daytime, kept us awake as our room was on the corner of the Main Street.

The hotel Marte is only 80mtrs from the bus station and is in the centre of the old town of Puerto de la Crux. I usually get problems with my hotels on holidays, but I must admit, I had no problems with the Expedia booking and the Hotel Marte was clean, friendly, pleasant staff and the room service, cleaning etc was brilliant. All in all I could not fault it...I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone..I forgot,,, the breakfast and dinners were of a good quality and plentiful....They must have been, because I put on 6 kilos over the holiday...

When I arrived at hotel I discovered the carpeted room was not air conditioned and was tiny, the street temperature was 32 degrees centigrade with very high humidity, as for the room, I can only imagine that the room without a view was of even higher temperature and humidity, when I requested to move to a more breathable air conditioned room I was told that none of the hotel rooms had air conditioning!

Fine, but exercise caution
The hotel is fine and very efficient. It offers good value for money booking through Expedia. However, whilst the location is excellent, whilst we were there over Easter the street noise was horrendous until the very early hours. I advise to request an inside room and not road facing for a good nights sleep.

This was my third stay here
Hotel Marte is a comfortable, unpretentious, relatively inexpensive hotel. It was very clean. This time I had one of the internal rooms that faces a lightwell instead of having a view. It's not as nice as the external rooms, but it's not a big deal. The temperature adjustment on the shower was very fiddly (too sensitive), but everything else about the room was fine. The free WiFi in the lounge worked well and was fast. Lots of young travelers stay here, groups and solos. The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety. Quality was variable, but there were enough options that everyone should find something suitable. The fried eggs were sometimes rubbery, but they do a really nice grilled herbed tomato, and also a nice (homemade?) yogurt.

Great location, great fitness center, great lobby area (which is important because wi-fi only is available here, but no worries 'cause the lobby is HUGE and comfortable), and great price

Second stay, and I would stay there again
This was my second stay at Hotel Marte. It's a low-cost hotel, so don't expect any extra frills, but everything was clean and worked properly. This time I had room 301, a west-facing room with a nice balcony. Normally west-facing rooms allow a lot of the sun's heat into the room, but they have this sliding sunshield with ventilation slots that works really well. The staff are occasionally a bit disorganised, but they're very friendly and happy to help. I stayed on a half-board basis. The food was fine, though the breakfast coffee was uninspiring, and the price was a real bargain.
