This property has my heart. A tropical paradise made perfect with monsoon weather. The staff is excellent. The front desk staff Jasmine walked us through the property amenities and necessary details. New year in Kovalam.

We found the Jasmine Bay restaurant to offer high quality food and exceptional service. Assistant restaurant manager Abhishek was a pleasure to meet and took great care of us as did the cook. The rooms itself are small and dated and charge is high (750$ a night) for quality as compared to equivalent resorts elsewhere which are new and have better comforts for lower prices. The landscaping is excellent and property is safe and the high yea and sunset views are phenomenal.

The property is well kept and lush. The evening boat ride followed by the tea overlooking the sundet sea side was beautiful. However the hosts at the restaurants are extremly pushy and annoying sometimes. The key is to stay alert and available if needed not hovering over the guests the whole time. There is a difference. Their restaurant "bait" needs major renovation and wasn't inviting due to old and broken furniture. There are not enough dining options in the area so youre forced to eat at the property. The fact that i was told that the oven only starts at 7pm and grilled food is unavailable was disappointing. I guess i expected more from Taj.

This is not a 5 star property. It is 4 stars maximum and some aspects I would rate as 3 stars. The pool is badly in need of retiling. The tiles would come off under fingers and toes and they are very sharp. I’ve only stayed at one other Taj property and it was amazing. This one is terribly overpriced for what it is. The staff are doing their best and were very attentive but given I stayed at 2 Hyatts in recent weeks, this place really comes up short and I felt terribly ripped off.

It was off season and there was some annual maintenance going on - it has to happen sometime - but the hotel manager and staff had made every effort to minimize this and to more than compensate. If you wanted a fully equipped gym you might have been disappointed but if you wanted to stay in a simply beautiful property - and we were delighted in all respects from room, food, amenities, activities, and location this place is it. But what makes this property special is quite the most genuinely charming and hardworking and professional staff I have encountered in my 45 years of international travel this is the place. From room and catering to garden and security the staff are very well trained, clearly Taj brand appreciative based on conversations I had with them, motivated and make this property as nice as it is. We stayed at 2 other 5 star properties on this trip and this was our clear favourite and made it an exceptional memory.
