It was time to take down the gers for winter. It was fascinating to see how quickly the layers and the structure could be removed from the ger. We were on our Autumn break and had a deep fall of snow overnight.
A standout memory - reading about the secret life of the Mongol Queens while staying in a ger in the snow.
The typical ger site (this one in Arkhangia aimag) has about three gers of extended family; and some of the trappings of modern life such as solar panels and motorbikes. The door will always face south.
Just the frame of this ger is left to dismantle. It took about 30 minutes to take down.
Be careful of the mud about 30 km from the city. Because of this incident we made a detour to the hotsprings. Our first bath in a week or two was really nice! #troverdetour
