A domed container shelters a statue of Lady Victory in the center of this profound monument to World War II.

Facing the New Jersey State House, the WWII Memorial stands out as a tribute to the military victory of the United States. It features a cupola surrounded by a circular frame made up of black-and-white photos from World War II. Read the surrounding plaques to get a comprehensive understanding of the significance, context and symbolism behind the monument.

At the core of this commemorative work of art stands an elegant dome containing a statue of Lady Victory, with a sword in one hand and the Wreath of Peace in the other. Encircling the war tribute are numerous flags, while crushed beneath Victory’s foot is the Nazi flag. Study the adjacent statue of a soldier dressed for battle and armed with a rifle.

Walk around the structure’s circular story walls to study its extensive timeline of events that contributed toward the Allied victory in World War II. The plaques describe the technology and communication that went into the war effort both here and around the globe.

Relax at a seat near the outer walls and reflect on the military victory and what it meant to the nation. You can also purchase a drink at one of the cafés beside the monument.

Take photos of the monument with the New Jersey State House forming a majestic background. Cross the street to visit the New Jersey State Museum. It features a planetarium for stargazers, as well as sections on archaeology, culture, fine art and natural history.

View the WWII Memorial for free it is open to the public at all times. The monument is in the Downtown area a little west of the center of Trenton. It is close to the Delaware River and is served by several bus stops.

Visit some of the other sights in the area, including the Old Barracks Museum, Wilkinson Park and the New Jersey State Museum.
