Walkers Creek, Virginia hotel rooms at the Independent

"This is the perfect hotel for a stay in Staunton, especially if you are attending Shakespeare plays at the Blackfriars Playhouse next door. It was raining on Friday when we arrived and so was the perfect location to access the playhouse. We had a beautiful, clean room with a great view of the town. Also a bonus was that parking is free in the parking deck on the weekends. The parking deck shares an elevator with the hotel. So we don’t have to pay to park or find a parking spot on the street. Just park and leave your car for the weekend, with everything within walking distance. And though the breakfast is $15 per person, it was well worth it. Very nice buffet that included hot and cold items. Eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, fruits, breads, etc. It feels more like a restaurant with friendly wait staff, than a typical free hotel breakfast. That being said, I spent less at this hotel than others in the area with free breakfast. This hotel definitely had the wow factor. We will be coming back. "

"Staff was nice and check in was easy. Good enough for a one night stay but seems like they’ve got a bit of a bug problem. Killed a few stink bugs that were in the room and there were ants walking around on the AC unit. My roomie for the stay also found stains on her bed spread so took it off and just used the sheets for the night we were there."

"Room was big and clean but shower hardware was in poor condition, towel bar coming off wall. Breakfast was tasteless…biscuit undercooked, eggs watery"
