The hotel is funky and eccentric in a good way. There are winding stairways, wonderful art, very unique hotel. The restaurant was stellar. The funky part was that there was no hot water in the evening, but it was back in the morning. In another hotel, it would have been a deal breaker, but here it we chalked it up to its eccentric nature. I would recommend staying here.

The antithesis of a boxy chain hotel. Unique rooms, eclectic decor. Affordable, safe, friendly and centrally located. Not for everyone: no TVs, no elevator. Noisy neighborhood at times with middle of the night car alarms repeatedly set off. Food is excellent with a great bar and Victorian lounge.
I absolutely loved this hotel! It made me feel like a guest in someone's house. The location is perfect. The decorations were perfect. The staff was exceptionally nice. I highly recommend.
A very cosy hotel with unique style. Very welcoming staff going above and beyond to provide an amazing experience.
Charming historic place, but note that there are no elevators and some rooms have shared bathrooms. It's walking distance (~10 min) from the metro and bus station, and located on a relatively quiet street.
We greatly appreciated the hospitality.
We will be back. What a treat! It's insanely historical, quirky, artistic and cozy but classy. The room was amazing. The food and drinks were too. The staff is fantastic. Located in the most walkable area of DC.
The hotel is very old but charming as long as you understand that there will be no TV and the bathrooms will be a bit tight, but our room was large and comfortable. Two blocks from lots of dining and close to many sights. The food we had at the hotel was excellent. Will visit again!
