“Clean, modern and spacious en-suite room, plus a great location to explore the Lake District. There was a little road noise, but this was not an issue. There are 3 parking spaces at the front of the hotel, but, if these are full, street parking is available until 9.30am with a disc to display (There are no restrictions after 6pm or on a Sunday). Free breakfast is provided - There are several options to choose from and all are of high quality. There is also a small bar, which serves evening meals...

“3 nights in late July. Hotel is a great place to stay to experience the Lake District, not far from Ambleside but remote enough to feel like you are really in nature. Staff and breakfast were excellent. Walk up to Stickle Tarn was a good test with a couple of scrambly bits but well worth it once you got there.”

“Really comfortable, quiet and clean bedroom, the bathroom was on the small side and not as nice as the rest of the room (still nice enough). The staff were friendly but seemed very busy so they just gave us the key and pointed us in the direction of the outbuiling where our bedroom was located. If you have heavy luggage or struggle with stairs our room would not be for you as there were some very steep stairs.”

“This hotel exceeded our expectations, so much so we stayed an extra night. The staff go the extra mile to ensure you are happy and enjoying your break. We met other couples that had returned to the hotel and been doing this for years. The food served was delicious and plentiful. We had the roast of the day on both evenings and they were massive portions all cooked to perfection. We could not decide on our favourite between roast turkey or roast beef. Hat off to their chef! “It has 4 Start rating but unclear why it’s that high. Checking in, staff member didn’t seem particularly interested. Had to prompt guidance on how to get to my room. Dinner was fine. Nothing spectacular. Breakfast was fine. Rooms are dated, bed was way too soft. Probably old. All just pretty average and not 4 star.”
