Convienient for RNAS Yeovilton

Very nice hotel, very friendly staff, good breakfast,and fairly cheap. Ticked all my boxes.

Excellent half-way house

Overnight stop on en route from London to Cornwall. Arrived quite late, but they managed to conjur up some food for us, which was tasty, and much appreciated. Very friendly & helpful staff, and our room was delightful. Only two VERY minor issues; the road outside our room was a little noisey first thing in the morning, and breakfast finished a bit too early (would have liked more of a lie-in). However, no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and I will definitely stay there again.

My opinion

Very happy to stay one night while visiting friends in the area. Very friendly staff, exceptionally excellent dinner, warm, comfortable and well equipped room all without being pretentious.

historic,good food,welcoming

enjoyed our overnight stay en route home from Cornwall. Lucy and Brendan,the proprietors are very much hands on which makes for good food,ambiance, cleanliness and efficiency. Had a rear room away from the main road. Local advised that restaurant the best location for a meal,we agree! Also close to R.N.flying museum worth a visit as is car museum some 4-5 miles away.

Very glad to have found Ilchester, and the Arms

Very nice people, very nice family business, in a nice little village. Location was great for heading to places in all directions. - we visited Salisbury, Stourhead, Glastonbury, Wells, Chaddar and Dartmoor on this trip. Breakfasts were excellent, and their sister pub across the street was a particularly great find: fantastic food, and good cask ales on tap. Will be happy to visit again!

lovely old world hotel

Nice hotel, friendly staff, but noisy due to extractor fans affecting all of first floor rooms.

Good but need to sort out wifi

Great lil place - staff are excellent - pub meals are great also. Had to change rooms as the wifi wasnt good enough to work - basically there is intermittant wifi in all the room as even in the new room i couldnt get a constant signal. Other than that great

A little break

We stayed here for a couple of nights as we were cordially invited to the reopening of the Haynes International Motor Museum following it's recent £5million upgrade. We were left a bit cold by this hotel for several reasons. The menu for the evening meals were a bit limited but we were still able to attain what we needed based on my limited choices following my vegan choice. The rooms were a bit of a disappointment too as their was limited space even in the family room. Breakfast was a little disappointing too as the choice consisted of: 3-4 cereals Orange juice A cooked breakfast but as someone who had scrambled egg it was a bit too soggy for me, At a cost of £100 a night it was extremely high for a hotel in rural Wilts when hotels can be got for a similar price in much better establishments in Central London. All in all we were left a little disappointed! :-(

No way a 4 Star hotel

The bed was soft and creaky, the bathroom door would not fully open it was stopped by the toilet pan. There was some kind of cupboard in the room with 2 bunk beds in it and other bits and pieces and no door on it to hide it away.No food on a Sunday evening it was a very disappointing visit. Certainly a hotel(Inn) to avoid. WI Fi was the only benefit.

Great location and lovely hotel

Lovely location. Nice quiet room. Very helpful staff. Restaurant looked very nice, although I didn't eat there.

Very friendly

Lovely room, we had the family room, which was a surprise as it was 2 rooms in one. There were five of us, 3 children it was nice to be together but at the same time in separate rooms. The staff were friendly and breakfast also good, the boys all wanted something different and it was no problem to the chief , would go back there again.

Treasure

Very friendly staff - they all go out of their way to ensure that you are welcomed and all your requirements are catered for - and its a homely feeling. The breakfasts are wonderful - fresh and tasty. Thanks to Lucy and her team.

Lovely Staff

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ilchester Arms, hotel staff and management were helpful and brilliant, bed very comfy and food was great with plenty of choice and cooked beautifully. The only negative was late a t night outside was very noisy and because it was so warm we had the window opened on the first night. Second night however closed the window and made full use of the fan provided.
