Futaoi Mountain Vacations

We love the location of this hotel; right on the water with such amazing views. There are many cafes and restaurants near by. We enjoyed walking around the area during the day and night. Area is nice and quiet. There is free coffee in the lobby in the morning. They also have instant coffee and tea available in the room with the electric kettle. Parking is available at 1100 yen/night with in and out privileges. Tourist tax 200 yen per person per night. Which is all standard and fine. Mojiko is a great area. Not too busy; but there's enough to do for a few days. Great place to chill and relax. The only thing that would make it even better would be having onsite coin laundry machines. Overall, we had a great stay and will return if we are in the area again.

Ocean view room and near seaside attractions.

This is something of an interesting and different setup in that this ryokan is contained within a larger hotel, the Art Hotel Kokura New Tagawa, which is where you check in. It's something of a best of both worlds, as you have the comfort and style of a traditional inn, supported by all the amenities and staff of a modern-style hotel. I opted to include the Kaiseki Tasting menu for dinner, and it's something that was absolutely amazing - definitely include this option! Breakfast was amazing as well. The room I stayed in was large and spacious (technically a suite as it had separate sleeping and sitting rooms), and though there was not a public bath, there was a very nice private bath in the suite. The sitting room opens up to a screened patio/porch bordering on the Japanese garden, for a lovely and tranquil view. A wonderful place to stay and experience, and one I would definitely recommend.

Location was ideal for our four night stay. Located a short walk from Kokura Station, we were able to get checked in and into a restaurant for dinner within 45 mins of arriving by train from Osaka. Room was clean, and adequate in size for four adults. There was no servicing of the room during the stay, which meant damp towels some days. Kitchenette had the basics which was helpful for heating up combini meals.
