What is Expedia+?

Expedia+ is a free program available exclusively to Expedia account holders.

How it works

  • When you book eligible travel such as flight+ hotel packages, hotels, flights, and activities, you collect points to use toward Expedia+ travel.
  • When you book flights, you can earn frequent flyer points simultaneously with your Expedia+ points.
  • To become a member, go to Expedia+ and Join.

+VIP Access benefits

What it means

The +VIP Access hotel network is a collection of hotels with high standards of guest service and customer reviews of 4.0 or higher that are located around the globe. You can identify participating properties by the +VIP Access logo in your hotel and package search results.

 

How it works

Expedia+ members receive exclusive amenities and upgrades at +VIP Access hotels. Additional benefits include:

  • +silver and +gold members enjoy exclusive amenities, such as water bottles and spa credits, at participating hotels.
  • +gold members are eligible for room upgrades based on availability at check-in (subject to availability).

 

Upgrades can include:

  • Complimentary change in room category to one of greater value or quality.
  • Assignment to a preferred floor.
  • Assignment to a preferred location on a floor, such as away from the elevators or ice machine.

 

Upgrades cannot be reserved in advance. However, +gold members can receive an unlimited number of upgrades while membership is valid.

 

Expedia+ benefits

How it works

+silver and +gold members receive benefits such as bonus Expedia+ points and exclusive amenities at +VIP Access hotels. Additional benefits include:

  • Exclusive travel offers
  • Priority customer service
  • Exclusive benefits from dedicated concierge service in Hawaii and Orlando
  • +gold members receive room upgrades and flexible check-in and check-out at +VIP Access hotels (subject to availability) for +gold members

Once you qualify for +silver or +gold status, your benefits extend from the day you qualify through the next calendar year to 28 February of the following year, unless otherwise specified.

 

Bonus Expedia+ points

  • +silver members earn a 10% bonus on base rewards points earned.
  • +gold members earn a 30% bonus on base rewards points earned.

Earn Expedia+ status

How it works

Expedia+ members can earn 3 membership statuses:

  • Earn +blue status just by signing up for your free Expedia+ membership.
  • Earn +silver status by spending KRW5,500,000 on eligible bookings or staying 7 room nights in a calendar year.
  • Earn +gold status by spending KRW11,000,000 on eligible bookings or staying 15 room nights in a calendar year.

Once you have earned +silver or +gold status, your benefits extend from the day that you qualify through the next calendar year to 28 February of the following year, unless otherwise specified.

 

Good to know

  • You can earn points for eligible bookings made with your Expedia+ account, regardless of who completes the travel.
  • Only hotel bookings of KRW50,000 or more count toward +silver and +gold qualification.
  • You cannot earn points for canceled bookings or bookings made when not signed in to your Expedia+ account.
  • Two or more individuals may not combine separate accounts.
  • Peso amounts include Expedia fees but not third-party taxes and fees.
  • Certain Expedia+ offers may be unavailable to members who are not residents of South Korea..

Collect Expedia+ points

Only Expedia account holders can collect Expedia+ points.
Create an account or sign in to your existing account when you book.

 

What to do

  1. To begin collecting Expedia+ points, create an Expedia account or sign in to your existing account when you book travel.
  2. To become a Expedia+ member, go to Expedia+ and Join.

 

How it works

You will automatically collect:

  • 1 point per KRW6,000 spent on flights.
  • 1 point per KRW600 spent on hotels and flight + hotel.

You can see the number of points you will collect for a trip:

  • On the Payment page during checkout.
  • On the booking confirmation page.
  • In your itinerary.

 

Good to know

  • You can collect points for any eligible booking, regardless of the number of travellers.
  • Pending points will be awarded within 30 minutes of booking and will be available/eligible for redemption 30 days after travel is complete.
  • You cannot transfer points to another Expedia+ member, but you can redeem them for hotel bookings in someone else's name.
  • You cannot collect Expedia+ points on car rentals or insurance or 3rd party taxes and fees.
  • Sign in to view your points on the Expedia+ page.
  • To view your account activity and pending points, go to See Activity.

 

Redeem your Expedia+ points

As an Expedia+ member, you can redeem your points for:

  • Hotel stays
  • Vacation packages

 

To redeem your Expedia+ points

  • Sign in to your account.
  • Select Expedia+ to view your Available points and Pending points, as well as your progress toward elite status.
  • Choose which way you want to use your points.

 

Use your points to pay for a hotel

You can use your points to pay for all or a portion of your Expedia Rate hotel booking. To do so, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be signed in to your Expedia account
  • Book an Expedia Rate hotel
  • Choose the Pay Now option at checkout
  • Have at least 3,500 available points (the option to pay with points will not appear until you meet this point minimum)

 

Good to know

  • Points are not redeemable for cash.
  • You can use your points to pay for your entire hotel booking or just a portion of it.
  • If you're eligible for a refund and paid for your entire booking with points, you will receive your refund in points (minus any cancellation fees, which will be deducted from your points).
  • If you're eligible for a refund and paid for your booking with points and a credit card, you will receive your refund in points and on your credit card (minus any cancellation fees, which will be deducted from your card refund first, then from your points).
  • Flight + Hotel coupons can only be redeemed online. Customer service agents cannot apply your package coupon to any bookings made over the phone or via email.

Claim your missing Expedia+ points

What to do

  1. If your points have not appeared in your account as Available points within 6 weeks of completing your travel, select Contact Expedia below and Email us your claim.
  2. Be sure to select the itinerary number for which you have not received points.
  3. We will review your request and credit your account with any valid claims within 72 hours.

 

Good to know

  • Bookings made with a guest account are not eligible for points.
  • Pending points for eligible bookings will be shown in your Expedia+ Activity within 30 minutes.
  • Pending points become available and eligible for redemption 30 days after you complete your travel.
  • If you change or cancel your booking, your original points will be adjusted to reflect your amendment.
  • Bonus points for certain travel offers do not post to your account until 4 to 6 weeks after you complete your travel. Check the terms and conditions of the offer to confirm when your bonus points will post.
  • Your points will expire if you do not earn or redeem any points in an 18 month period.

 

View your Expedia+ points

What to do

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Select Expedia+ to view your available and pending points.
  3. Go to See Activity for a detailed report of your activity.

 

Good to know

  • Bookings made with a guest account are not eligible for points.
  • Pending points for eligible bookings will be shown in your Expedia+ Activity within 30 minutes of booking.
  • Pending points become available and eligible for redemption 30 days after you complete your travel.
  • If you change or cancel your booking, your original points will be adjusted to reflect your amendment.
