Giethoorn, while picturesque, felt overrated and required nearly two hours of travel each way for a short canal ride. Instead, visit nearby Edam and Volendam. The Edam Cheese Museum is fascinating, and Volendam is perfect for strolling the harbor, exploring the streets, and taking the ferry.
