Very clean, quiet and an easy check in. Exceeded our expectations and we had a back unit which was surprisingly quiet and much larger than expected. Definitely our new go-to for our stays in Palmy as great value for money. Comfy beds and nice sheets were really lovely too.

Cleanest property I have stayed at. Rooms are new and spacious. Staff is friendly, and amenities are great (free laundry!). Highly recommended.

Didn't know there was no sky tv.remote to the tv was hard to use I mean the buttons you push it and had to push it more than once.poor reception for the tv and mobile phone.

Rude and Unprofessional

I booked this room late in the day due to my hostel being unsafe. My reservation was accepted online AFTER the desk hours and a phone number given to call to be let in to the motel upon my arrival. When I arrived at 11:30 pm the office was closed (which was to be expected) but no one answered the after hours number. I contacted the Hotels.com help line and they were very helpful and quickly connected with the hotel owner, Margarette, and asked her to please meet me for my room. At this point it was midnight. The owner did meet me and her behavior was rude, angry, and unprofessional. She met me with "Do you have any idea what time it is??" After trying kindly to explain my situation, she cut me off and read me the riot act which included how I as a foreigner needed "to learn how NZ works", how I "inconvenienced her", how this was "never going to happen again", etc. Bear in mind I was soaking wet from the rain and was crying from the scary event at my hostel. She showed zero kindness and basic human decency. Why would the motel accept and process my payment after the desk hours if they had no intention of letting me into the room after hours? Simply refuse the booking if you cannot meet the after hours needs of guests. Owning and running a motel means that sometimes travelers have unexpected situations. My late arrival was in no way malicious or entitled and I tried to meet her with gratitude and had my head bit off. Poor reflection of the usual kind Kiwi spirit :/

Well located for the centre of the city. My room was very clean, and check-in was a breeze. This is an older property, and the fixtures are a little tired, and the price of the room I felt was a little high because of this.

Disappointed that receptionist wasn’t wearing a face covering in the enclosed reception area while expecting cleaning staff in open areas to wear theirs. Also surprised to see room serviced without request (towels changed daily which for a two night stay we feel was not ‘eco aware’ or required). Staff certainly friendly and welcoming, units are clean, bright, airy and in good condition. Location is however a busy road and without double glazing units do get road noise. A high school is also next door so something to note if staying during a school term. That and a neighbouring unit TV was on our bed head wall (sadly that unit had TV on all night). I don’t think above unit was occupied. Overall a mixed bag…nice units but did have more noise than expected and as we are currently in a pandemic (and we were travelling through many regions) we expected motel reception just to be more conscious of that fact. You are dealing with people travelling extensively surely a face covering is a must…

Tboroughly enjoyed our weekend here. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment which had everything we needed including 3 super comfy king size beds,a washing machine and dryer. Lovely decor, quiet, clean and plenty of tea and coffee etc provided. Would definitely recommend.

Good and clean premises but interior is a little tired and sound proofing is poor, especially if on the lower level.

The unit I booked was spacious and comfortable. The shower was excellent with good pressure and plenty of room. It was very clean and was serviced every day! Staff were friendly and approachable . The Kauri Inn was in an excellent location for us with easy access to the shops and University! A stones throw away from the Esplanade Gardens is another bonus. I am coming back to Comfort Inn Kauri Inn next time I need to come to Palmerston North!

1 night stay in one bedroom apartment, super king bed, spa bath and comfy sitting area, added bonus if tv in lounge area and bedroom for those who don’t like to share the remote.
