"Beautiful old hotel. Lovely breakfast. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Stayed during the heatwave last week so bedrooms were incredibly hot but fans and bottles of iced water provided. No air conditioning which would have helped enormously but did not spoil our stay. Foyer and lounge areas coolest part of hotel. Would definitely stay again, though hopefully not in a heatwave next time."

"What stood out in this experience was the kindness of the staff and the focus on customer care. We had an issue during our stay and the tool great care. Beside that, in our case staying here during the hottest days of the year with record temperatures which they were clearly not prepared to handle didn’t help. Breakfast was excellent and location very convenient"

"We had a late check in (out of staffed hours) and it could not have been easier. We made contact to make sure it was ok, on arrival we got access and our room key with no fuss. Located the room and it was all very fresh feeling and lovely. It being one of the hottest nights of the year and there no built in aircon (welcome to England), but the fan kept us cool and the whole set up was really good. Check out was very simple too."

"We had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time at the royal lodge. The room was large and the staff were very polite, welcoming and helpful. The bathroom and room were spotless. We also had dinner at the royal lodge which we both loved with the price definitely warranted. We would definitely stay again when visiting the Wye Valley. The road to the hotel is a little unnerving but that is the only downside we can think of. A lovely stay overall and would definitely recommend"
