“We had a 1 hr wait for our room to be ready .spacious and clean but tatty and needing redecorating .wallpaper hanging off the walls shabby furniture.
Towels and bedding good.

Bank Holiday weekend booked fora spa weekend and the salon was shut the entire time of our stay. Disappointing.

“Everything was as usual really lovely. Unfortunately that Sunday happened to be the coldest and when l arrived the room was freezing cold. Staff tried their best to rectify the situation but to no avail.
After an hour or more Lady Den brought me an extra quilt so l can use. The lady was a God sent she managed to get the temperature to at least 17 and it made a real difference. Overall l ended up with a good night in a warm place. Staff are so helpful at The Hamilton Arms.”

“We recently stayed at this hotel after breaking down on our journey. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make our first night and phoned the hotel to explain the situation. The woman we spoke to didn’t seem very interested or concerned, and we were disappointed that nobody even asked if we were okay given the circumstances.

“This is an extraordinary property – one of a kind. For anyone interested in or pleased by historic milieux this is a must-stay hotel. Features in the grounds date to Anglo-Saxon times and the main building to Tudor times. Even the 1930's changing huts by the pool are heritage-designated.
Most of the staff were also excellent, notably the cheerful, accommodating receptionists (we needed an electric space heater as the weather was so unseasonably cold that the ordinary room heating system...
