“Excellent stay, sadly we were only here for 1 night. We were welcomed by a lovely member of staff who showed us to our room and gave us a full explanation of all the facilities including how to use the coffee machine. Room was spotless and quiet. We walked into the town centre in the evening. It's only a 10minute walk but just be aware this property is up a steep hill so walking back up requires some energy! Breakfast was delicious. We ordered the night before and then it was served at a time...

“We were made to feel welcome on arrival, the pub is very old with plenty of character, the room was basic but adequate. The bar had a good choice of beers including reel ale. The breakfast was lovely.”

“It’s a majestic and beautiful property which has been tastefully decorated. We stayed in the family room (2 adults and a teenager) and it was huge and lovely. The only criticism would be about the bathroom…the shower pressure and no shelving in the shower or bath to put your products on (very minor though). We can’t speak highly enough of all the staff from the reception, to the restaurant/breakfast and bar. A special mention to Brendan who made one of the nicest Espresso Martinis I’ve ever...

Nice touch with tea coffee and biscuits in room Bathroom very good size Bed was uncomfortable Main issue was no sleep from noise from M6 Needs better double glazing Lovely area to walk along canal after breakfast Real downside ,no sleep”

“Great location for our birthday event in Cartmel. The chauffeur service was excellent and we utilised that every evening. Welcome from Francesca was warm and friendly but professional at all times. Good breakfast too. Room was warm despite inclement weather.”

Pub was not open Sunday evening, so we didn't get to eat here, but heard that the food is very good. No breakfast in morning, but lots of options in Cartmel so wasn't an issue. Would recommend.”

“From the first welcome to the final farewell, it was a joy to stay there. Substantive breakfasts, pet friendly, old manor house setting with great views. Good choice of relatively local (less than 10 miles) public houses for evening fare. Already hoping to get back there when next visiting the Lakes, which start only six miles north.”

“Property appears to have been recently made over, everything is new and fresh, extremely clean and although on the small side the rooms are perfect for overnight stays, comfortable bed and with more than enough tea/coffee supplies unlike a lot of places. The continental breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful. We could not fault the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money and we will definitely go back”
