We really enjoyed our stay here. All of the staff made us feel very welcome and the food was excellent. Our room was spacious and clean and the view over the churchyard was delightful. We've booked for a return visit soon.
Cozy room, great views from the window, easy parking lot across the street, very accommodating and friendly staff, delicious made to order breakfast ready in the morning. Would stay again and recommend
What lovely place! Historical, clean, close to the motorway without being noisy, friendly people and delicious food! Would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you!
An excellent area to visit. Do your research before you go although they do offer lots of information.
The included breakfast is very good.
Dog friendly for sure with only a ten pound extra for each dog , can't complain about that.
Definitely worth going back.
We stayed for two nights with our dogs. We absolutely loved our stay. Rooms super comfortable and staff so attentive. Breakfast was incredible. We ate lunch and two evening meals as the bar and restaurant was so good it wasn’t worth trying anywhere else. Would definitely recommend and return.
I had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel, which perfectly blends historic character with modern comfort. The traditional architecture adds a unique charm, while the updated bathrooms provide a touch of luxury. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming which gave it a home from home feel and the food was outstanding. A perfect choice for anyone looking for a mix of tradition, comfort and a relaxing atmosphere.
Very nice spacious room with modern shower over bathroom. Very friendly and kind personnel, very engaged and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast delicious. All in all, one of our best stays on our roundtrip

We stayed at the Wheatsheaf to be within 10 mins drive of the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve. The room was quirky, bare floorboards and steps up to the bed because it's quite high off the floor! The food was excellent and not expensive and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.. Very happy to recommend this place and we'll definitely be staying again.
We spent a night at the Wheatsheaf, to break the long drive from Scotland to Berkshire. Our room, although not huge, was clean, with crisp, white bed linen on a very comfy bed, and with lovely views of the pretty village church. Although warned about the frequent bell ringing, it did not disturb us in any way. Nice, white towels were provided in the shower room. Lucy and her team couldn't have been more welcoming, efficient, and helpful. It was convenient to be able to enjoy our evening meal in this very popular, old village inn, full of character, and breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. We would certainly stay here again. The only negative for some, might be the lack of a lift, but staff will happily carry your bag upstairs for you. Oh, and there is a free car park opposite for guests.

Slightly disappointing
Our room on the top floor was characterful and had everything we needed, a couple of negatives however were the bathroom window which had no blind or curtain and which wouldn't close. The staff who checked us in on Friday morning and who served a delicious breakfast on Saturday, were friendly and helpful. A slight disappointment was my meal of fish, chips and mushy peas. The peas were cold and the batter on the fish was undercooked. My husband had the burger which he really enjoyed. Another downside for me was the bar area which didn’t provide any comfortable seating areas to sit and relax after your meal.
Me and my partner had an absolutely fantastic stay here , the staff and service was second to none we got looked after from day 1 till the day we left , the food gets a 10/10 the options for breakfast are amazing loads to choose from brought to you with a friendly attitude and wanting to know that you are satisfied with your food the dinners are amazing also ,this constant care and attention and friendlyness is exactly what Ive been looking for which doesn't exist at alot of other hotels ,I'm glad I booked here as I enjoyed every minute of my stay and would love to come back, keep up the great work to the owners they are a credit to the place thankyou.
Great hotel in a perfect location for our needs.
All the staff were friendly and couldn't of done more to make our stay as enjoyable as it was.
We ate there on both nights it was that good.

Lovely location
The breakfast was exceptional, the staff friendly and welcoming, the views stunning and the quirkiness of the building was charming. A lovely atmosphere and a lovely location.
However, the bathroom light for a bathroom without windows (some did, some didn't) wasn't working, so a temporary one was set up. We didn't feel it was a safe option given it was in a water based room but had little choice and no offer to reduce our room rate despite the bathroom not really safe to use, nor the shower as it was too dark in that part of the room. They tried their best given it was a weekend and no electrician could come out, but very little was done to recompense our stay which is a shame.

The room was fine, with a decent shower. The restaurant closes at 6pm on a Sunday, not bygreat for guest who canno
400 year old inn in a little village. Recently modernised bedrooms. Welcoming staff although they didn't tell us the TV was not working other than via internet conection until I asked why there was no reception. This lack of reception was due to building works. Very good dinner and breakfast and two cask ales available. Large private car park across the street where there is also an outside seating area. The church clock chimes every 15 mins day and night so if you're a light sleeper this could be a problem but ear plugs a provided. An historic corn mill is close by. Convenient for catching the Isle of Man Ferry if travelling by car. We would stay there again.
Beautiful location with friendly staff. Lots of gluten free options for breakfast and on menu. Room was lovely with picturesque views. Would recommend and stay again!
