"I went to the Monastery Hotel to check in at 5:00 p.m.. after several spa treatments at the attached spa that afternoon (that is another story space won’t allow me to review here). My plan to end a long awaited, relaxing spa day had been to check in, order a room service meal and glass of wine, and have a quite relaxing night in. During check in, I was advised that the restaurant had just closed (at 5:00P.M.?!!) and no room service was available. I was more than annoyed but I reluctantly checked in anyway paying for my room up front which, I was advised, is policy. When I entered the room the first thing I saw was the room service menu that I couldn’t use and then I noticed the state of the room. It was incredibly drab and reminded me of old, run down motel in a bad part of town. The furniture was in poor repair (as per other reviewers from several years ago on the Monastery website) and the flooring looked dirty and was separating (see photos). I picked up my bag and left. I was advised the manager would get in touch with me regarding my experience at the Monastery Spa and Hotel and a refund. I’m still waiting for that call."
