"The Breakfast was very good and fresh with plenty of options. Many types of pastries, fruits alternative milks.
The front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Douro Valley. The rooms had incredible views of the River. Rooms were spacious but were dated, they need a refresh. Bed was comfortable though. The area was good but you definitely need a car to see the rest of the valley and vineyards."
"Absolutely stunning location! We loved our peaceful 3 nights at this quaint and well run hotel. Breakfast was fresh and tasty and waking up to the view of the Douro River was fabulous. Even better than we expected, I would recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone!"
"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e Memorias where husband and wife cook for you and welcome you in. The pool was not yet open unfortunately since it was March but would have been an incredible view. There’s also a kids playground set which helps for the little ones and a small little fish pond. The property has beautiful lemon and orange trees. A full and delicious warm breakfast was served directly to your door. A very peaceful stay! Highly recommend."
