“Loud. Incredibly loud. First, they gave no indication that the room I was staying in opened directly onto the street. The door lock was strange, perhaps just something I'm not used to, but I struggled with ensuring that it was locked during the night. (I work in a technical field, I'm not dim, but jeez, I felt stupid) Considering people milling around outside the pub at night were quite drunk, shouty, and possessed of questionable decision making, I ended up putting a chair in front of the door...

“Best location to experience the Lake District and very close to both Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Idyllic town, beautifully decorated rooms, comfortable and clean. The food was also tasty and worth the visit!”

“A nice travellers rest inn, we had a very spacious ground floor room with an equally spacious ensuite, the room was a little noisy early evening, but was generally quiet overnight. Well located in the centre of Bakewell close to all the town has to offer. The adjoining pub has a great atmosphere with excellent food and drinks. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating.”

“Excellent stay here. Room had comfy beds and large bathroom. Delicious breakfast every morning. We ate in their pub each evening and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Staff is very friendly. Laura is the best!”

“Nice and fresh room. Lovely staff. Extra milk/tea/coffee on corridor table and toothbrushes for those who require them. Dog bowls, treats and blankets if bringing your pooch. Food was lovely.”

“The inn is in the most beautiful setting with wonderful views . The accommodation is very comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and the restaurant is worth booking as the food is delicious and they pride themselves on sourcing ingredients from local farms and businesses. Would definitely return in the future.”

“I really enjoyed my stay here. Its perfect if you are working away etc. Spacious accommodation with a nice shower and you can park right outside your chalet. I had a great night's sleep. No complaints”

“One night stay, room(plum porter) much bigger than photos , clean comfy and in keeping with the building. Staff very friendly, beer spot on food good. We didn't want breakfast as we were going for lunch, just. Suited us. Lovely little village, church peaceful, sound of the bells chiming, like going back in time. Nothing we didn't like, beautiful hanging baskets, beer terrace, a very popular, dog friendly pub, thanks.”
