Brilliant weekend away
Excellent location in Kalk Bay - just ambling down the beautiful steps to several restaurant locations. That is if you want to leave the stunning views of the guesthouse porch. The room and amenities were in excellent condition.

Good view with less human touch.
Nice view. Excellent breakfast. Less nice with a small room without any window. Strange welcome by a young woman - more keen to get us out of the way than saying welcome and listen to our questions.

Possibly the perfect B&B. Simply but tastefully decorated, immaculately clean with crisp white linen, plus friendly & welcoming staff. Can’t imagine anything better.

Good value stay
Lovely staff and a very friendly welcome. Hotel has a lovely feel to it - amazing views and lots of lovely light. Generally cleanliness was great, apart from our bath in the room hadn’t been cleaned from the last guest so that wasn’t nice. There is a lovely pool area, but the covers on the sun loungers are looking quite sorry for themselves and need replacing really. It was also rather unusual to have a double bed made up… but with two single quilts. Even with these few elements not being up to scratch we still had a lovely stay and felt it was good for the price we paid.

Loved this place! I rented the loft room and there was a breeze, big windows and a fan, so I had no issues with it being too warm. I slept with the balcony door and windows open and it was lovely listening to the waves as I fell asleep. Breakfast was delicious! Hot tip: If you book directly with them, it's included. Really enjoyed the complementary coffee brought to my room. The location is fantastic. I walked to Dalebrook tidal pool and snorkeled there and later I walked to Kalky's in the harbour for delicious supper. No doubt I'd return here, it was just fantastic. A big treat!

Great location overlooking Kalk Bay, the breakfasts were superb, the staff were friendly, warm and welcoming and had great restaurants tips for us. Would highly recommend this guesthouse!

Das Chartfields Guesthouse ist eine wunderschöne Unterkunft. Die Ausstattung ist mit Liebe zum Detail gewählt. Die Terrasse und der Garten sind gross und gemütlich zum frühstücken, welches ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen ist. Alles in allem kann ich diese Unterkunft sehr weiterempfehlen!:)

Great location with a warm friendly welcome
This was my second stay at the guesthouse and once again I received a very friendly welcome. Nice location, rooms are clean and bright. I was attending training held at the guest house and the food and service was great. Love the pain au chocolate and pastry twists with our coffee .... not to mention the cake on friday! great location, great people, lovely stay.

A lovely and affordable place to stay in Kalk Bay
I have stayed at chartfield a number of places and enjoy it every time. It is very reasonable for what you get, and very comfortable. Perfectly situated to experience Kalk Bay.

We are so lucky to have found this beautiful hidden gem of a guest house in Kalk Bay. The service was absolutely exceptional. Lisa and all the staff couldn't have done enough for us and made us feel so welcomed. The breakfast served at Chartfield House is incredible. We ate here every morning for our two week stay. We loved it so much will be definitely stay here again.

Great location in Kalk Bay. Light sleepers beware!
The guest house is located close to the bars / restaurants / shops in Kalk Bay. The access point is up a inclined path - so might be tough for the less mobile traveller. The guesthouse itself has incredible views - a lovely spot to sit and watch the ocean / have a few drinks. Simple facilities but does the job for a few nights stay. They provide beach towels and umbrellas for the guests. My towel was not the cleanest - I found some bird poo when I unrolled the towel.. this could have been bad luck from when the towels were dried! I struggled on occasion to find staff to buy water from, or to check out for example. It feels like the ‘front of house’ still needs some work. The rooms are simple but fresh and good size. There were a few stray hairs on the bedding, but nothing too major. Bed was a good size and comfortable for 2. The main issue I had was the noise. The doors do not block any sound from the corridors, and the stairs / floorboards are extremely creaky. The guesthouse offers a complimentary tea/coffee from 7am - 9am. Between these hours I could hear the drinks being made, and the staff stomping around to deliver these to the guests. This might not bother everyone - but for me, a light sleeper, it was quite an issue. For these reasons I would say the guesthouse would serve you well for a night or two.. but I wouldn’t stay for much longer!

Beautifull House with Ocean views.
Very pleasant Guesthouse. Located on the top of the hill with beautifull ocean view. I would reccomend for a couple or family wanting to spend some time by Kalk’s Bay area.

Located quiet good - close to the restaurants. Parking can be difficult. Equipment of the rooms is rather poor - there was no kettle, no toiletries, curtain of the door was thin, so the room was bright light with the first sun beam in the morning. Heating was so small you could bearly heat thr room.

very old guesthouse!!!!! wrong description from the webpage: 1. no free wifi in room; 2. no parking, 3. no hot water or tap water in room, should paid 25R for a bottle of water! 4. it is a youth hostel not a 4-star !!! 5. may out of electric supply... 6. they ask for 12R for VAT after April 1... 7. a lot of stairs turning from corner to corners... 8.eerie feeling - very dark environment with a lot of strange drawings; 9. the car just park on a single double way path - VERY DANGEROUS and thelves around the hostel.

Ruhige Lage über Kalk Bay
Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter, geräumige Zimmer, eine gemütliche Lobby und eine herrlich gelegene Terrasse mit Blick auf den Hafen von Kalk Bay. Gefallen hat uns, dass im Hotel auf Umweltfreundlichkeit geachtet wird. Einen Parkplatz findet man nur an der Straße und dieser ist je nach Verfügbarkeit etwas vom Hotel entfernt. W-Lan steht in der Lobby kostenlos zur Verfügung. Über einen Fußweg mit Treppen erreicht man in ein paar Gehminuten das überschaubare Zentrum von Kalk Bay.

Wunderbares Gästehaus mit super Service
Einfach toll ist dieses Gästehaus, eines der schönsten auf unserer Rundreise. Sehr netter herzlicher Empfang, ein wunderschönes Zimmer mit herrlichem Blick, ein herausragendes Frühstück (man kann aus ganz vielen unterschiedlichen Leckereien a la carte auswählen und sie werden frisch zubereitet und superfix gebracht), sehr sauber, absolut empfehlenswert. Schöner Garten mit Pool und Liegestühlen, den wir allerdings nicht genutzt haben, weil wir LEIDER nur eine Nacht hier verbracht haben. Man spürt, da möchte jemand, dass sich die Gäste rundum wohlfühlen! Nette Restaurants, wir haben abends im trubeligen Cafe Olympia lecker (und günstig) gegessen.

Nice hotel, good location
We recently stayed here and very much enjoyed ourselves. The rooms are nothing too fancy, but clean and decent size. We found the bed/pillows to be very comfortable- and the bathroom is quite large. The breakfast is very good, and I would definitely recommend it. Most of the restaurants in Kalk Bay seem to have a very similar menu, but as the hotel breakfast is a flat rate, it's more affordable. Plus the view is gorgeous from the back patio where they serve it. The staff was very polite. The pool is a good size and in a quiet area. We thought the location was perfect. Far enough from the main strip to be quiet, but it was literally at the end of the street- so very close walking distance to the other restaurants and bars. (Be warned, it is at the top of a steep hill though. So if you have trouble with stairs, this might not be the place for you) Wifi is not great though- and we even purchased it for our room. Its pretty slow and drops out a lot- but we found that to be true in a lot of places in South Africa. But even with that, I would still stay here again.

Prachtig hotel met mooi uitzicht op de zee
Chartfield Guesthouse is een fijn guesthouse met heerlijk ontbijt en mooi uitzicht op de zee & Kalk Bay. De locatie is verder ook erg goed. Kalk Bay is een authentiek en mooi gedeelte in Cape Town. Het zit vol met kleine boetiekjes en restaurants. Het ontbijt binnen Chartfield Guesthouse was voortreffelijk. Het is een à la carte ontbijt vol met ei producten, zoetigheid, fruit en heerlijke versgeperste sapjes. Al met al waren we erg tevreden. Het enige minpunt is dat ze geen gratis WiFi in de kamer hebben.

Schönes und gepflegtes Gästehaus mit einem sehr netten Inhaber und sehr freundlichen Team. Tolles und abwechslungsreiches Frühstück á la carte. Bequeme Betten und ansprechende Zimmer. Kalk Bay ist ein netter Fischerort nähe Kapstadt, mit dem Auto ca. 1/2 Stunde von Kapstadt Zentrum entfernt. Viele Ausflugsmöglichkeiten!!
