Yes, our famous load-shedding has obliged everyone to find solutions to ensure that guest comfort and convenience is not affected . . . We will soon be supplementing our inverter system with a solar system that takes us completely off the grid: consistent with our environmental commitments and no more concerns with power outages at all. Dear Chris,Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on your recent stay with us. We're all distressed to learn that you found so much wanting with your stay -- and more so, that we did not make you feel that you could raise issues like a problem with your door lock while you were still here so that we could have rectified the matter then and there. Our 70-year-old Victorian mansion does keep us on our toes for maintenance, but most such issues are easily sorted once flagged . . . And very sorry to hear that you were also not satisfied with our breakfast: we're regularly recognised as offering the "best breakfast in town," so wondering what we could have done better for you. Again, inexcusable that we did not make you feel able to bring this up while you were here to better cater to your taste.Unfortunately, it is now too late to remedy your disappointing stay with us, but we will be in touch with you directly to apologise and see what we can possibly do for you. Meanwhile, rest assured that we take your comments extremely seriously; we will investigate internally this afternoon to see what went wrong during your stay and take remedial action.Apologies again from the whole team and our very best wishes to you all,Anahid, Armin & Luca

Dear Stephen, Many thanks for your great feedback on your recent stay with us--and from the whole team, special thanks for the shout-out on the friendly and helpful service ! You're so right: it's our fabulous team that really makes the Derwent House difference.But indeed, the neighbourhood is also ideal for visitors as you point out.Yes, South Africa's infamous "load-shedding" is an operational challenge of note . . . We unfortunately cannot accommodate a generator on the property due to noise, odour and space considerations. We do have an inverter system in place (soon to be "solarised") that keeps the lights, refrigeration, Wifi and other moderate consumption equipment and appliances running throughout, but an inverter that can run air conditioning units with their very heavy power load has not yet been invented.Thanks so much for your lovely recommendation! Promise we'll take good care of your family and friends when they heed your advice . . .All the very best from Cape Town,Anahid
