Los hechos: tras una reserva tramite Expedia hecha el 13/07/23 de 3 habitaciones dobles por una estadía de una noche (18/09 IN – 19/09 OUT), a las 17:45 del día 18/09, las seis personas de nacionalidad mexicana se hicieron presentes en el hotel para realizar el check-in. Tras el pedido de los documentos para registrarlos, ninguno de los presentes llevaba con si el pasaporte, solamente tenían la fotocopia (los pasaportes físicos los habían dejado en las habitaciones del B&B en Salerno -de donde venían y a donde volvían después de su paso por Capri). Con la cortesía habitual, la recepcionista les indicó que no podía proceder al registro y, por tanto, a la asignación de las habitaciones, ya que las disposiciones nacionales al respecto prevén la aceptación únicamente de un pasaporte físico para los huéspedes de nacionalidad extracomunitaria, ningún otro documento, y mucho menos una fotocopia. Los señores afirmaron que desconocían el asunto (Expedia, con su mensaje explicito y claro, informa que cada cliente se presente en el hotel con un documento de identidad expedido por su propio gobierno) y que, en el B&B de Salerno, su primera estancia en Italia, no se les había solicitado ningún tipo de documento para el registro. Los huéspedes, a los que les habíamos propuesto, en vano, que acudieran a la comisaría de la isla para un control de identidad, decidieron renunciar a su estancia y regresar a Salerno, al mismo tiempo solicitando la devolución del importe total que ya habían abonado; nosotros declinamos amablemente el reembolso, ya que no podíamos responsabilizarnos por los hechos apenas descriptos. Todo fue gestionado por nuestras recepcionistas con la serenidad y el equilibrio corteses de siempre, incluso cuando algunos de los huéspedes se dejaron llevar más de la cuenta, y sin ningún malentendido ya que se dialogó en el mismo idioma que ellos, la lengua española. Aunque comprendemos la irritación de los clientes por el incidente, del que fueron los únicos responsables, no podemos justificar en modo alguno el duro juicio que han considerado necesario expresar contra nosotros, sin dar ninguna razón; se trata de un juicio que no aceptamos por ser inmotivado, expresado en un lenguaje grosero y vulgar, dictado únicamente por el rencor y el resentimiento de personas incautas y, cuando menos, poco acostumbradas a viajar. Términos como racismo y grosería, que en este caso están totalmente fuera de contexto, definen actitudes y comportamientos que no nos pertenecen y que rechazamos enérgicamente.En cuanto a los señores, les habríamos prestado un servicio excelente si los hubiéramos aceptado sin identificarlos o, al menos, les hubiéramos devuelto el importe pagado. Lo sentimos, pero no fue posible satisfacerlos.
