“A cheeky last minute booking at a great price including breakfast. It was our first time in the area and this hotel did not disappoint. The check-in was quick and easy, the hardest thing was remembering my car registration for the free parking! The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful too. She informed us about the bar and restaurant opening hours and when the very generous buffet style breakfast would be served in the morning.

“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”
