Hartley House offers a serene country setting off the Shannon river with reasonably easy town access. The house and grounds are charming and nicely restored with period furnishings. The proprietress--Kate--is great and a treasure herself. She is a wonderful host, chef, and baker. A fine Irish experience!

Kate, the owner of this beautiful historic home, is truly a delight! She was a very gracious and informative hostess, that went above and beyond to accommodate our every need! The sky was grey. Storm clouds were gathering and thunder rumbled away in the distance like an afterthought. Suddenly the clouds parted and an individual sunbeam exploded as though shot from a gun. This is exactly what I picture when I think of a B & B in Ireland. The house was from the 1700’s and it was filled with antiques befitting a house that beautiful. Kate could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. She even gave my husband tips on how to master the round-about. The room was so quaint & comfortable. After dinner she set us up with tea & biscuits in front of the fire. So relaxing! Breakfast was delicious as well. Great stop for these Yanks!!!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the gorgeous and cosy Hartley House B&B in Carrick-on-Shannon for one night while passing through from Dublin on my way to a wedding in County Sligo. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the remarkable host, Kate. Her hospitality is truly exceptional - nothing was too much trouble. Kate's warm personality and engaging conversation made my stay feel like a home away from home, and this radiated into the charm of Hartley House. She went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comforable, providing excellent recommendations for local attractions and dining. The room was beautifully decorated, spotless and comfortable. Carrick-on-Shannon itself, a short journey from Hartley House, is a stunning town rich in character. The picturesque surroundings show that the town is a hidden gem and made me regret my stay was so short. I will definitely be returning to explore more of this town over a longer stay, and of course, to enjoy Kate's unparalleled hospitality once again. Highly recommend Hartley House to anyone visiting the area!
